In this new action/adventure contest from Taxan, you set out to explore a terrifying region filled with cretures and monsters of all kinds who are out to stop you from discovering the secrets of the 8-Eyes world. With your trusty bird on your shoulder, you can attack the enemy in a number of different ways, pick up new elements to increase your performance, and take on the impressive Bosses that lay waiting for you at the conclusion of each round of play.

People say:

6.0

Anyone who's up for another scrolling action/adventure game will find some merit in this new Taxan title. The options with the bird seem unnecessary, and there really isn't anything that hits you in the face as being spectacular, but 8-Eyes is entertaining for awhile.

6.0

A decent imitation of Castlevania. The multiple country selection adds variety to an otherwise average game. Nothing spectacular ever appears, but the game play is slightly above-average.

6.0

Another Castlevania rip-off that tries to duplicate the big 'C' but comes up short. The two-player option is useless because the second player is given little to do as a bird. The background graphics are good, but there's not much detail in the characters and they don't help the game play at all.

6.0

This game does have some cool features that bring it close to its apparent inspiration, Castlevania. The movements and actions are displayed well, but there's just not much to do that's real exciting. Die-hards should find some aspects of this game appealing, but don't expect too much.

Control man and bird in a fight for the eight jewels of power!

After eons of chaos, mankind has finally emerged from the rain brought on by nuclear war. The world has flourished once again under the guidance of the Great King, who has harnessed the power of the 8 Eyes to rebuild the planer.

The 8 Eyes - strange and powerful Jewels - were formed in the stellar centos of eight thermonuclear blasts. To possess them is to possess all earthly power.

Now, a loose confederation of dukes has through treachery banished the Great King and seized the 8 Eyes in a bid for power. And already their petty infighting has the world trembling on the jagged edge of atomic war.

The task of retrieving the Jewels falls to you, Orin the Falconer - the bravest and mightiest of the King's Guardsmen. With your fighting falcon, Cutrus, you must penetrate the donjon keeps of each of the faithless dukes. There you will face the ducal mercenaries - and battle living skeletons, giant wasps, mud men, and other mutated horrors. You must defeat the monstrous Boss of each fortress to retrieve the Jewel he guards. If you are able to return the 8 Eyes to the Altar of Peace, the Earth will pass into another millennium of peace and plenty.

Eight nuclear explosions of Third World War nearly destroyed the Earth and formed eight powerful jewels in their centers. The Great King used their energy to rebuild civilization but his evil vassals stole these 8 jewels for their own selfish purposes. Now Orin the Falconer and his trained falcon Cutrus have to search 8 castles and retrieve 8 jewels. He'll face mutants, enemy soldiers and even living skeletons but it is he who is able to return the Great King and it's power to revive the mankind.

The game was developed by Thinking Rabbit in 1990. It has 8 levels with bosses such as: Africa with King Amin, Arabia with Ghadie Rashal, Egypt with Nari Tanatos, Germany with Walter Schmidt, India with Syfer Nasim, Italy with Geno Comechio, Spain with Enriquez Bartona and The House of Ruth with Ruth Grandier. All these levels are to be completed in order since Orin gets a new sword at the end of level, and each level boss can be killed by only one sword. There are hints in the game about levels order selection as well as hints about eight jewels pattern in which they must be put onto the Alter of Piece.

8 Eyes is side-scrolling action/adventure video game developed by Thinking Rabbit for the NES. Released in 1988, the game is very similar in game play and graphics to Castlevania. Even the main game character Orin looks like Simon Belmont.

There are eight levels featured in the game, and 1-2 players can play it. The player can choose a ‘cooperative mode’ in which one player controls Orin and the other one controls Cutrus. Another mode is the ‘single-player’ mode. Here the player is limited in control of both characters simultaneously. This makes the game a lot more difficult.

The story itself: this game represents adventure chronicles of Orin of the falconer. He has to visit 8 different houses in 8 different lands. To collect 8 different jewels called eyes he must defeat 8 different guardians. He can attack with a sword of quite limited reach. The more powerful tool he has is his trusty falcon. Orin can send it around the room and attack enemies or else turn on remote switches.
