Sunsoft's bat with an attitude is back! Aero the Acrobat sets off on an all-new adventure. This time around, he leaves his beloved circus behind to go in search of new adventures. Aero will find new friends and enemies, as well as pick up a few new skills to help him survive.

Like the previous Aero the Acrobat, expect to see huge colorful levels that'll put your game playing skills to the test. Aero the Acrobat 2 is still a ways away, but from the shots we've seen, it's going to be even better than the first.

So if you are ready for more hair-raising adventures with Sunsoffs dynamic bat, get ready, because GameFabrique will be there when Aero 2 appears.

The greatest show on the Genesis has returned, but this time it's no circus. Aero, the bat with an attitude, is back and better than ever in his ongoing mission to stop the evil machinations of insane industrialist Edgar Ektor.

ProTips:

  • Drill into spinning boxes to release energy pick-ups that add to your life meter. Aero can hold a maximum of five energy points.
  • Check out the surrounding walls in the levels to find secret paths.

Bat Tales

As you may recall from the original Genesis game, Aero believed he stopped Edgar once and for all when he knocked Edgar off the museum bridge. Unbeknownst to Aero, Edgar escaped with help from Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel. Meanwhile, Aero found a magician's box that transported him to an unknown dimension with seven worlds.

In his second adventure, Aero says good-bye to the bright circus lights and hello to an entirely new but scary world. Aero travels to various bizarre locations, such as deep, dark Bell Castle and fanatical Disco Fever.

Acro-batic Attacks

The game's challenge will keep you coming up to Bat. Each level is extremely huge, packed with enemies, and filled with secret paths. The one drawback is that you don't face a boss until the third level.

The well-balanced control shows slight improvement over the controls in Aero's first installment, especially when you're attacking and getting to various hard-to-reach locations.

Find the checkpoints to make the levels a little easier.

The star of the improved moves is the Drop Drill, an attack you'll grow to love. The D Drill is similar to the Spin/Drill move in this game (and in the original Aero) except that Aero dives vertically. This move is very effective at both hitting enemies directly below you and breaking through secret floor blocks.

The Bat and the Beautiful

Overall, Aero 2's bright, detailed graphics and colors shine, but the new dark theme is what really makes this game exciting as you face creepy creatures in spooky surroundings. Veteran Bat watchers will notice the additional eye-popping frames of animation that really pump Aero's personality.

The sounds in Aero 2 rate average scores, chiefly because the music's way too repetitive for the lengthy, time-consuming levels. That's right... it drives you batty! On the other hand, the voices and sound effects are a real treat to the ears.

Straight As an Aero

The original Aero was a blast to play. With the new visual look, new moves, and an overall new feel, Aero 2 makes you feel like you're playing a completely different character altogether. If you were a fan of the first Aero, you're sure to enjoy this nicely improved sequel. Batter up!

Chance doors, hidden throughout the levels, take you to a bonus level where you can get extra points and extra lives.
