New from Acclaim is a car racing cart unlike any other you've played before! Bigfoot is a multi-event title that features both side-scrolling and overhead scenes in a split-screen format. You can challenge a friend or the computer opponents in any of the different games which range from tractor pulls to car crushes. Advance from event to event around the country as you work your way to the final championships!

Bigfoot really disappointed me. I was a fan of Power Drive in the arcades, which this approximates, but even with a dozen rounds of play and multiple events, I finished the cart the first time I played it. There are some near races, but nothing spectacular.

A decent game that is hurt by a lack of challenge and difficulty. Most players will breeze through the game in a short time. The graphics are adequate, but not spectacular and the events, although varied, aren't challenging enough to hold interest.

Bigfoot is O.K. for what it is, but the different events aren't exciting enough to really make the game outstanding. The voice is the best on the NES, and Acclaim did a good job using the pad for speed. Only slightly above-average in the end though.

While the intentions of this game are good, the execution of the idea is at fault. Your vehicle remains fully powered most of the time and you make too much money. The graphics are adequate but the play just isn't interesting even with all the event.

Game Reviews

Why would anybody want to drive around a silly-looking 4x4 pick up truck with giant wheels? Well, BigFoot plays off of the monster truck phenomenon, in a series of five competitive events. The game includes split screen graphics for two-player competition, vertical and horizontal scrolling screens, and a dashboard that enables you to track your MPH, RPM's, fuel level, engine temperature, vehicle damage, and more. Once the action begins you go head-to-head with a friend or the computer in events that take place from coast to coast. Your route takes you through treacherous terrains, including narrow bridges, deep mud pits, white water rapids, and harrowing winding roads. The events themselves include the Car Crush, the Mud Race, the Hill Climb, the Tractor Pull, and the in famous Oyster Bay Championship Drag Race. Compete for cash and prizes that let you upgrade or repair your truck between events -- as well as afford the pricey Championship Race entry fee. So why would anybody want to drive around this silly looking truck? Because it's fun!

Bigfoot represents Acclaim's first attempt at a driving game that proves to be much more than your standard lap-the-track kind of racer. In Bigfoot you control a monster truck, one of those souped-up four-by-four's with balloon tires big enough to crush cars, in a multi-event trek across the country. In addition to a one-on-one battle (against the computer or a friend) across an overhead obstacle course, you climb mountains, pull tractors and much, much more!
