Namco Museum

While the days of the coin-operated arcade are waning, it seems the classics have come back to life, allowing us old fogies to remember the good ol' days and to also make themselves known to a newer generation of gamers.

Namco now showcases five of their greatest hits in the Game Boy Advance port of Namco Museum. Gobble up dots in America's most popular coin-op of all time, Ms. Pac-Man. Take on scores and scores of alien bees and bugs in Galaxian and its sequel Galaga. Create your own maze as you exterminate Fygars and Pookas in Dig Dug. And if you finish your qualifying lap quick enough, you just might make Pole Position!

I'm an anal retentive classic gaming purist and I'm probably found way more wrong with this game than the average gamer would. The general gameplay for each of the games is really quite good and very similar to its coin-op version overall. The addition of the hints and options screens adds a lot also.

Still, I felt the smaller graphics modes truly detracted as they do make playing the games harder and the squirrelly control in Pole Position doesn't help much either. I also felt that Namco could've added a few more games to this collection or at least replaced Galaxian or Galaga with something a bit different.

All gripes aside though, this is a great little cartridge that should appeal to classic gaming enthusiasts as well as people who would want to play a quick or simple game
