Scramble Spirits assigns you to a search and destroy mission against an enormous armada of enemy warplanes and weapons.

Loosely based on the Sega arcade game of the same name, Scramble Spirits features most of the sights and sounds from similar shooters, including big Bosses to blow apart, squadrons of smaller attackers, and methods of increasing your abilities.

Scramble Spirits is a mediocre translation of the arcade original that's too easy and doesn't throw enough into the play. Although Sega shooters are rare, both Power Strike and Activision's Bomber Raid provide more interesting Shoot-em-up scenarios. Scramble Spirits is a big disappointment.

4

Another game from Sega which is too easy for the average players. The graphics are very good, with attention paid to the detail in the enemy planes and battleships. The vertical-scrolling is good, but the game is just too easy to appreciate what this game has to offer.

5

Here's another shooting game that dishes up nothing but targets. Real weapon power-ups and such aren't to be found in Scramble Spirits - it does have some variety, but not enough to sustain the game play. This reinforces the fact that shooters are one territory that Sega has never mastered.

Scramble Spirits is alright as a shooter, but as a game I've seen a lot better on the Master System. The graphics are O.K., but the game play gets slow and tedious in many spots and there's just not enough to shoot at. Way too easy.

BLAST THE ENEMY OUT OF THE SKIES

With the exception of Activision's superior shooter for the 8-Bit Sega, Bomber Raid, vertically-scrolling overhead shoot-em-ups have been virtually non-existent on the Sega Master System.

With the release of Scramble Spirits, however, it appears that Sega has finally realized that fast-action shooters play an important role in every gamer's diet. This cart is a rough translation of the arcade game that shares the same name, boasting plenty of ground and air-based targets in a shoot, shoot, shoot scenario that's guaranteed to give even the most advanced players a handful of blisters.

While it's not anything new, Scramble Spirits is a welcome addition to the Sega library that fills a very large void. It has enough variety and firepower, not to mention some nasty Bosses sprinkled between rounds, to sustain the interest of all shoot-em-up fans.

Bonus points are tallied at the end of each level depending on performance.

Power your way through muliple enemy defenses in this 8-Bit attempt to capture the sleeper coin-op of 1989.

Based on the arcade game of the same name, Scramble Spirits takes you off into the skies on an impossible mission. You've received orders to blow up an enemy base which is offering strong resistance to allied ground forces. The odds against success are a thousand to one as the enemy mounts a strong defense with tanks, artillery, and heat-seeking missiles. Your weapons are minimal, but at your disposal are a small fleet of bombers, and an unlimited supply of bombs and ammo for your onboard machine guns. Scramble Spirits offers constant and intense aeriel/ground combat action in the great Sega coin-op tradition.
