ATV Offroad Fury 2

The anticipated sequel to ATV Offroad Fury is finally here as Rainbow Studios attempts to recreate the surprise success with its latest release, ATV Offroad Fury 2. Loaded with 24 new ATVs, over 40 racing environments, and new mini games, ATV Offroad Fury 2 brings plenty that's new but also takes the approach of 'if it ain't broke don't fix it.'? Keeping the core of the game similar to the original, ATV Offroad Fury 2 brings back the gameplay that attracted many in addition to adding and improving numerous features.

When a sequel to a game is made, often they are criticized for not improving the general gameplay. ATV Offroad Fury 2 on the other hand, would be criticized if they did change it. With the same unprecedented control system, you'll be paying attention to more then just steering as leaning forward or backward while in the air and loading your suspension makes a large impact on the race. In addition, the physics model is outstanding, giving a sense of the ATV's weight and size. You'll notice they move and bounce as expected creating believable gameplay and a realistic experience.

There were areas that were improved including tracks, the addition of online play, and new multiplayer mini games. The tracks in particular are designed intelligently with short cuts that can be found and areas where timed jumps can hold you up if they're not attacked correctly. The addition of mini games is also noticed as racing can get dull after a while and games like tag, soccer, king of the hills, and treasure hunt can increase the replay value dramatically.

By keeping what worked the first time and adding and improving features, ATV Offroad Fury 2 again finds the right mix and delivers a solid racing experience. With few complaints and no serious issues, not many will be disappointed, as any fan of racing will want to pick this one up.

Despite being bought by THQ recently, Rainbow Studios (developer of the original ATV Offroad Fury) is still behind the wheel of this sequel for Sony. ATV2 wilt offer more of the offroad racing from the first game, including stadium-cross, checkpoint races and a collection of minigames. Only this time, you can take the action online against up to three other drivers over either broadband or 56k connections.
