Four extraterrestrial best buds were strolling through their home-world, Ufouria, when suddenly a giant chasm opened in the ground and sucked up Freeon-Leon, Shades, and Gil, leaving behind Bop-Louie. Not one to let his friends down wherever they are, Bop's determined to save them.
Bop-Louie and company aren't related to the famous Italian plumber, but their game might re-1 mind you of Mario's second NES adventure. It's a multi-scrolling hop-n-bop quest. The "bop" refers to Bop-Louie who carries the load in the beginning of the game. He stomps a horde of Ufourian weirdoes and tosses them when they're stunned.
- If you need to heal yourself, stand in front of a frog statue and bonk the mini-frogs until you're fully restored. Bop's first objective is to locate his friends, after which they'll join you. Each has his own skills, and you can switch characters any time.
- After you rescue Gil, return to the underwater areas Sag you couldn't explore.
The pals have great personalities. The graphics are cute and the little space dudes are well-animated, too. For example, Bop-Louie slips and falls on his behind if he tries to leap on an icy surface.
Ufouria's a mildly amusing foray into a world straight from Mario Land, but that just means it's a kick to play. The bouncy action's good fun and you get plenty of it -- in fact you'll need a map to find your way. Special password crystals help you get through hard times. If you're looking for adventure, Ufouria's for you.

This single-player adventure video game was developed and published by Sunsoft, and released in 1991.
Bop-Louie a penguin, Freeon-Leon a cat, Shades a ghost and Gil a frog – are the four friends who came from different species and live now in Ufouria.
One day three of them stumble upon a crater and fall down into it. Bop-Louie decides to climb down the strange land in search for missing friends to get them back home.
The peculiar thing about the game is that when he finds one he has to struggle with it just trying to help them regain its memory. As soon as all of the four creatures are back together, the play turns around assembling the keys to open the Temple Gate that leads back to Ufouria.
All these creatures have got secret weapons. Bob-Louie’s head springs out and attacks the enemy. Freeon-Leon can freeze enemies for stepping-stones. Shades can pop out his eyes and attack. Gil belches bombs destroying walls.
