Irem Skins Game

It's up to you to use your wits and cunning to save the men from getting killed! Can you handle it? In Sink or Swim you must guide your men through plenty of levels; including the deck of the ship and the Engine Room.

If you have ever played the game Lemmings, it is quite comparable. A great thing about this game is that as you progress through the game, the levels definitely become much more challenging, but not so challenging that you will never get past the level. This is definitely a game you will want to play if you like challenging puzzle games. Although it is quite challenging for the average gamer, those who play puzzle games frequently might not find it difficult enough, so you might want to rent it first to judge for yourself.

THE GOOD

If you like games similar to Lemmings, you should enjoy this game a lot.

THE BAD

If you don't have a lot of patience, the game could cause you to throw the controller through the TV.

THE UGLY

Watching the little men get smashed to a pulp by the hydraulic presses! How sad!

Game Reviews

They say golf is ninety percent mental. Irem Skins Game has taken that real-life golfer's truism to heart by seamlessly translating the mechanics of golf into a low-handicap video game.

The Skinny on Skins

In Skins, you only get one course, but you can play four types of games -- Stroke, Match, Skins, and Tournament. Up to four players can play an 18-hole round. You pick from four characters, who are each rated according to Power, Accuracy, and their abilities to Drive, Hook, Slice, and hit with Back Spin.

ProTip: Versus the computer, Skins are yours to lose, but the CPU's a deadly putter.

The game's graphics are top- notch. They don't putter around with razzle-dazzle special effects. Instead, the animation's crisp and the course is picturesque. The sound effects are sharp, and the jazzy music kicks.

Skins Game plays like a champ and places all the data you need to hit a championship round at your fingertips. You swing from a behind-the-player, third- person perspective. The nicely detailed and uncluttered player's screen makes it easy to adjust Club, Direction, Stance, and Power. On-screen displays include a wind meter, a close-up look at your lie, the distance of your last shot, and the yards remaining to the hole. The handiest data, however, are the club yardage ratings, which appear onscreen with your selected club. A meter with a sliding bar makes wacking the ball a simple, but still challenging, single button press operation.

A slick overhead view of the current hole appears on the right side of the screen. You can use it to aim your shot and to watch the flight of your ball after you hit. Skins only lands in the rough when you hit the fast greens. Most of them resemble miniature golf layouts with holes that sit on sharply elevated plateaus.

  • The behind-the-player view makes trees look deceptively unimposing. Use the overhead view to aim your shots around them.
  • Greens are fast, but you still have to putt aggressively.

A Solid Hit

Video golf doesn't get any easier to play, and it rarely gets better. Take a swing at Skins Game.
