Kirby returns in a brand-new video game! This time he turns himself into a ball and lets players whack him around a fantastical world of video golf!

There are a total of eight different golf courses, each one increasingly more difficult than the one before it. Within each course are a variety of geometric planes filled with creatures and obstacles Kirby must encounter in order to complete the hole.

Players must guide Kirby around each plane and touch each character until the hole is revealed. Doing this takes precise timing and patience as there are also obstacles that hinder Kirby's progress. Oh! Don't forget that Kirby can also fall off the edge of a plane.

If you're in the mood for a little one-on-one action also a cool Two-player Mode where you battle it out against another guy to see who can collect the most ê stars in an eight-hole course.

All in all, this game has something to offer every gamer. It has great graphics, a charming character and it's pretty darn fun!

THE GOOD

Great graphics and cute sound effects! Oh yeah! The game play isn't too bad either.

THE BAD

The controls take a little getting used to. After you get that down, the game is loads of fun!

THE UGLY

Nothing really. There are plenty of cute and adorable characters. Heck, even the bad guys look cute!

Game Reviews

Although Kirby's Avalanche is a rehash of an overdone puzzler theme, it's so well done that it's worth playing -- that is, if you don't already have three puzzle games just like it.

It's an Avalanche!

If you've seen Columns orDr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (Genesis), or Dr Mario (SNES), you've seen Kirby's Avalanche. One player squares off against the CPU or two players go head to-head in a battle to manipulate pairs of colored blobs that fall down a well. To make the blobs disappear, you connect four or more together. The player whose well fills to the top of the screen first loses.

Strategy is simple: Make matches to keep your side of the screen empty and link up strings of blobs to cause chain reactions that fill up your opponent's. Control is easy: The directional pad moves the pairs of blobs left and right, and button presses switch the order of the blobs.

ProTip: As in standard Tetris- style puzzlers, keep an eye on the preview window in the middle of the screen.

Kirby Konquers

Although typical for puzzle games, the graphics are nicely executed. Lighthearted animated sequences preview each CPU challenger, and the colorful blobs squish together in an amusing manner. The tunes are repetitive, but cute digitized Kirby speech livens up the action somewhat.

If you've played similar puzzlers, you'll find nothing new about Kirby's Avalanche. If you haven't, it's a well-done little game that might just suit your style.

As your stack starts to build, move objects to the sides so you have room to maneuver.
