Strap on your Rocket Pack! As Cliff the Rocketeer, you'll have to battle through eight stages. You fly on your own or with a buddy in alternating two-player action. Your mission: reach the Zeppelin in time to save Jenny before she's harmed by the Nefarious Villain. You'll be sucked into this game's graphics, but not into its action.

Up, Up and Away

Before you get to the real battle, you'll have to win two airplane races in GeeBee. These air races get a bit the tedious -- but they're tough to beat. Watch out in the Hanger. The Villain's men blend into the background and they'll try to take you out with their shots.

ProTip: To win the air races, either in the GeeBee or with your Rocket Pack, stay CLOSE to the poles. You can't beat 'em if you stray too far.

After the last Hanger, you take to the air! Once airborne, you face several bouts of bombs, missiles, and parachuting bad guys before you reach the Zeppelin. On the Zeppelin and before you are reunited with Jenny, you'll have to slug it out with the evil bad guys and your most difficult opponent, the Nefarious Villain.

While in the air, keep your eyes peeled for 1-Ups and Power-ups.

Out of Gas

Although the Graphics and Sound pull you into this game, the disappointing action doesn't keep you. The shoot 'em and slug 'em fights are too easy to win and the ending “reward” sequence isn't worth the wait. Unfortunately, this Rocketeer just doesn't fly.

This game looks great, but when you pull it apart to look at the game play alone, there just isn't much left! The first sections in particular are drawn well, but the action is really confined to a small segment of the play area. There is some nice graphics, but the action never really manages to hit big.

I have to give IGS credit for creating some innovative and exciting graphics. The game play on the other hand is only a bit better than average. I had problems in learning the controls and this lead to frustration later on in the game. Once learned though, the game was decent. It's better than average but not spectacular.

The Rocketeer is a game that will have to rely on the title to sell. While there are bunches of different in the game, there just is not that much in the way of game play. Despite the nice graphics, the cart is boring and way too short. I did like the stills in between the rounds, however

Let's face it. It's hard to translate a comic book to movie to video game and still come out with the same intensity and excitement as when you started. The Rocketeer lacks control, but the graphics are excellent; while the music is good, the fun factor quickly drops to boring. This is a good game, but the comic is better.

One of this summer's hottest movies locks to become one of this upcoming year's hottest SNES titles as The Rocketeer soars your way this spring. Using digitized graphics IGS has captured the look and feel of the movie in their first SNES title. This action/adventure game closely follows the plot of the movie and has some of the best looking SNES graphics we've seen to date. Check it out in this sneak preview.

Episode One: The Air Races

In this episode our hero, Cliff Secord, takes to the skies to race in one of four planes. If Cliff wins two races he gets to climb aboard the Cirrus X-3 and complete in the main event. Meanwhile, a Nazi Rocketman and an SS Officer get ready to snatch Peevy, Jenny, and the Rocketpack.

Episode Two: The Shoot Out

This episode screams into action as the Nazi Officer grabs Jenny, Peevy, and the Rocketpack. Cliff chases the Nazi Rocketman and the SS Officer aircraft, guns blazing in aerial combat action. It's up to Cliff to rescue his friend Peevy and his girl.

Episode Three: The Chase

Once Cliff has the Rocketpack in hand he jets after the Nazi aircraft. If he successfully battles his way to the plane, he can rescue Peevy, but Jenny is still captive in the giant Zeppelin.

Episode Four: Armada

Using the captured Locust aircrafr Cliff and Peevy fly through the skies in search of the Zeppelin. To reach it they battle Flying Tanks, Missiles, and Air Mines.

Episode Five: Rescue!

If Cliff manages to make it to the Zeppelin, he takes on the SS Officer in a jaw-busting fist-fight to the death of the tail of the Zeppelin. Win and Jenny's safe, and the Nazi threat is over...for now!

Ace pilot Cliff Second is blasting his way into theaters all across America this summer as the "Rocketeer", a 1930's hero devoted to the destruction of the enemy war movement (we're talking WWII here). Cliff was just a regular joe (actually a regular "Cliff") until he found a super rocket pack. With the pack and a rad costume and helmet, he becomes the Rocketeer, defender of justice and everything wholesome.

Cliff's girlfriend, Jenny (who qualifies as wholesome), has been kidnapped by the European movie star Neville Sinclair, an ally of the enemy war movement. Sinclair leads a gang of thugs and enemy military forces as they try to capture Cliff and his wonder pack. Sinclair wants to give the pack to enemy forces in Europe for use against U.S. allies there. What a maroon!

Armed with his fists, a pistol, a rifle, a spray gun, hand grenades, and a bazooka, the Rocketeer must traverse several enemy infested levels. Movie sequences run in between levels to keep you up-to-date on what's going down.
