Scratch Golf has lots of options. You choose everything from the type of shaft for your clubs to the wind speed. The two 18-hole courses, seen from an overhead view, have plenty of variety, hazards, and graphic detail.
The game is missing a few things, though. There are no "name" pro players or courses, which most other golf games have. Nor is there a behind-the-golfer view to show you your swing. The aerial view is good for surveying the whole course, but it doesn't truly involve you in the game as you watch your tiny ball float to the green. The average sounds feature bouncy tunes and some muffled effects as the ball hits obstacles.
Puttin' Around
Two highlights of Scratch Golf are the practice modes. Exercise and the super-easy Super Exercise. In either you can play holes in any order and get help with your shots. These modes help make Scratch Golf a duffer's delight, but nothing that a pro will spend much time with.
ProTips:
- Don't just blast away for maximum distance. Sometimes it pays to lay up just before a hazard.
- Winners drive for show and putt for dough - practice putting in the Exercise mode before you tackle these tough greens.
- Hit a little under the ball with your Pitching Wedge to get maximum loft.

This two-meg golfing game has a surprising number of options for a hand-held. One or two players can attempt three game play modes, try two 18-hole courses, choose Metal, Carbon, or Wooden clubs, and jump to any of the holes up ahead. Adjust your stance, select your club, and swing to match the lie of the overhead-view, side-scrolling course and the wind conditions, then watch your ball fly over hazards to the green.

Scratch Golf is a good game of golf if you enjoy the sport. The graphics are particularly well done, and everything is easy on the eyes. The sound is also pretty good, plus Scratch Golf supplies a constant challenge. The only flaw I can see is that the ball is hard to hit. Other than that, this cart would make a good addition to any sports fan's collection. Scratch Golf is just plain fun. Period.
Pretty cool. Golf sims don't usually float my boat; but this one is just so easy to play, who couldn't enjoy it? The options are minimal and you really just get to jump into the game, fcverything you need is here: Club selection, stance, wind directions and hazards. Two players make for an interesting tournament. For those who need yoll practice, the bxercise Mode really helps. For car trips, this one is a must-have!
I actually like this game. I usually find golf games tedious and boring, but I found Scratch Golf to be fun and easy to play. Although there are plenty of options (like club selection, stance, and a power hit bar), it's easy to get into and just play Everything is laid out nicely to make it fun and easy for novice golfers to understand. The challenge is also there even for advanced players. A very good golf game.
For a portable system. Scratch Golf is a pretty comprehensive game on the sport. The graphics are fantastic, and you have a great deal of control over your shots (power in your swing), club you select, etc. Maybe there are too many options (it gets monotonous cycling through them at times). For tans of the sport, this is probably the best portable video game version of golf you can get.
