Once again Nintendo serves up brilliant family-oriented fun as only they can with Tin Star, the latest addition to the Super Scope game library.

The adventure takes place in the old west, with Nintendo's newest character, Tin Star, in the lead role. You control Tin Star's trusty six-shooter as he cleans up East Driftwood, a tiny old town that's filled to the brim with those evil cattle punchers, the Bad Oil Gang.

As far as shooters go, Tin Star is one of the most entertaining we've seen in years. With characters that resemble distant cousins of the Muppets and plenty of toungue-in-cheek humor that's guaranteed to keep everyone in the family rolling with laughter, this cart is packed with rip-roarin' fun. In addition to being compatible with the Super Scope and regular control pad, Tin Star is also mouse compatible, so if you have a Nintendo mouse (it came in-packed with Mario Paint), you can really enjoy this title. While it's still only a shooter and no new ground has been covered, I've always considered Nintendo the Disney of the video game industry and again it delivers an incredibly polished product that's well worth a look.

A family oriented shooter (what?) that's a lot of fun. There's goofy animations and real cartoony graphics. The real innovative deal here is that this game is mouse compatible, making sighting and shooting a real breeze.

Cross cartoon robots with the Old West, and you get Tin Star. As Sheriff Tin Star, you command the cursor that controls a six-shooter.

Lighthearted in design, Tin Star's colorful, sharp graphics make watching this wacky western enjoyable. Cartoony noises add to the game's charm, while effective sounds and upbeat music enhance the humor.

ProTip:

  • To win the duels, quickly click on your revolver when It appears, then shoot your opponent.
  • Shoot the bottle after "Knock 'lm Down" changes to "Shoot Target" to play a new game.

The challenge depends largely on your controller. The Super Scope and Mouse (sold separately) are easier to use than the control pad.

Tin Star's comedic twist stands out, but the jokes don't change, and the game play's repetitive. Greenhorn desperadoes will find more pleasure here than experienced gamers.
