Capcom has done it again! But this time it's a sports cart rather than a fighting game. Soccer Shootout could easily be one of the best sports games to come out this year. Considering the World Cup is coming to the U.S., there are many competitors on the field.

This soccer cart leads the competition with six play modes. You can even practice your moves before you take on the world. Another plus is the Indoor Soccer Mode, a fast-paced soccer field surrounded by walls that you can bounce the ball against. Character animations are incredibly detailed. As for the sounds, you can hear everything from the roaring crowds to the ball hitting the goal post.

A definite must-have!

Soccer is fast becoming the most popular sport in the world. Capcom's latest soccer title takes advantage of this trend, and makes a highly playable game as well. Choose from six modes, and play with multiple players. What's cool is that you can practice all the moves that will lead you to victory.

There's both indoor and outdoor fields, and each has its own play mechanics. The players have a lot of moves, ranging from heading the ball to bicycle kicks.

This one-to-four-player game can be played in several ways. You can play an exhibition match between any of the 12 international teams. You can also select from a 22- or 44-game season or a one-game all-star match.

The strength of Soccer Shootout is its graphic appeal. Capcom's realistic depiction of its players pays off in a big way. The players are very detailed, and their movements are as authentic as in any sports game around, including football and hockey titles. The graphic details, plus the multiple overhead and side views, compensate for the lame soundtrack, which thankfully can be turned off.

The controls are quick and responsive. The only complaint here is that you don't ever really control an individual player. On both offense and defense, the players seem to move in groups of three. While this helps you on defense, it hurts on offense because your players don't have proper spacing.
