Condemned 2: Bloodshot is the second entry of the franchise. We still will follow the story of Ethan Thomas, and now eleven months later, Ethan finds himself homeless and has become extremely violent, a raging alcoholic, and suffers from hallucinations. But Ethan will have to once again face his demons.
Ethan is recruited back to the SCU, and alongside his old partner Rosa, he will investigate the murder of Malcolm Vanhorn, his ex-mentor. But it doesn’t end there, as later on we also find out that his old nemesis Serial Killer X is still alive.
Rosa and Ethan set out to find out what is the cause of Metro’s city extreme mayhem, and they discover that the source of all of it is a cult organization known as the Oro. All of its members by having metal implanted in their bodies can use sonic powers and allow them to manipulate and control all of humanity.
After learning about the organization Oro, Serial Killer X takes interest in their abilities to develop sonic abilities, and wanting to attain the same power, he goes on a killing spree of the Oro members. But the organization has members in high places, even in the SCU. After Ethan finds out the secret of the organization, Dorland and his tactical team are sent to try and kill him. Ethan is able to fight back with the help of Rosa, an SCU agent, and even his nemesis Serial X.
Dive back into this psychological horror game with certain adventure game elements. It is a first-person game, that focuses mainly on hand-to-hand combat, but you will also use melee weapons and even firearms. The game still retains all of its brutality, and now you can execute enemies by completing quick-time events. But it doesn’t end there, as you can also use the environment around you to destroy your enemies.
Melee weapons will eventually break the more you use them, and you can only use the ammunition that’s already in your firearms, as you are unable to carry extra ammo. When shooting, due to Ethans constant drinking, your aim is blurry and unsteady, so in the end, you must always resort to using your fists.
There is also a multiplayer, that contains four different modes. Deathmatch, team deathmatch, bum rush, and crime scenes. There can be up to eight players and each mode, and all of them offer different types of challenges.
If you’re into violent games with an interesting story and cool gameplay, Condemned 2 will be a game that you enjoy. It is similar to games like F.E.A.R. 3 and Eternal Darkness - Sanity's Requiem. Sequels are always a challenge, since player’s expectations are always high, but Condemned 2 was able to deliver a game that was well-received not only by players can but also critics.
The game was released back in 2008, and it still holds up pretty well. As it is to be expected, graphics are a bit outdated, but that does not take away from how fun the game still is.
