In the tradition of Slayer (S.S.I.'s previous D&D 3DO game), you are a lone warrior embarking on a perilous quest through dark, dismal dungeons.
Death Keep improves on the older game by allowing you to select one of three warriors. The graphics are smoother, too.
This CD is primarily a first-person Doom-type game. When monsters appear, you must defeat them using spells or darts.
Death Keep is a cool adventure that should keep Dungeons & Dragons fans spelunking into the depths for a long time.

Death Keep is a 3-D RPG set up in the same style as the earlier Slayer IA title, but vastly improved. The 3-D movement is very smooth and the dungeon graphics are very well done. You still use an akward, invisible strike attack, but the addition of shooting and throwing weapons in the later levels adds a key technique.
I didn't think too much of Slayer, but the way it put you in the game had potential. Now, with Death Keep, they've got it right. Nothing's scarier than wandering through a creepy dungeon with hideous monsters roaming about. The music complements the action and ranges from a blend of medieval toons to dungeon moans.
The controls can be touchy at times and the game is far from perfect, but it still remains a worthy adventure for 3DO owners.
Death Keep not only has an official D&D license, it also has all the makings of a winner.
An evil necromancer has returned to the world, and you must stop him from resurrecting his long-lost powers.
D&D for One
Death Keep promises excitement and delivers. From a first-person Doom-style view, you explore 25 dungeons with 8 levels apiece, filled with puzzles, mazes, and monsters.
Death Keep's great control is another plus. The accessible menus give you over 30 items and countless spells. Smooth control allows you to navigate close corridors while the up-and-down scrolling increases your line of sight.
Death Wanned Over
The 3D game environment gives you 360-degree motion in rendered levels. The smooth movements, detail, and animation are impressive.
In addition to spooky music, Death Keep has screaming monsters that give you unnerving warnings ahead. Clashing swords and strangled cries are also realistic.
With a solid plot and great animation, Death Keep is to die for.
