Fox Girls Never Play Dirty

If you enjoy turn-based RPGs, then you should definitely take a look at some of the rising number of RPGs out there on Steam. One of the more interesting titles to come out in November 2021 is that of Fox Girls Never Play Dirty by Kagura Games. AVANTGARDE is behind development, and they have created an interesting turn-based RPG set in the nation of Stivale. It’s an interesting title with a very specific anime theme.

While some might find the game a touch adult, it’s definitely one of the more interesting RPG titles released in the last few months in this 2D style.

An interesting, if somewhat sexualised, RPG

First things first - Fox Girls Never Play Dirty is quite sexual in its content. The characters are petty much all entirely sexualized in their dress style and their mannerisms.

Only the protagonist, Ryunosuke, who is male, comes across as looking somewhat normal. The game, though, sees your party filled with various anime girls who are about as typically ‘hot’ as one might expect of such a title.

The gameplay is simple – you find yourself wrapped up in a movement to take over the country and bring reform. This leads to brawls with authority, dealing with the development of an underground movement, and a surprisingly witty storyline. While much of Fox Girls Never Play Dirty can feel like most titles that looks like they were made in RPG Maker, there is enough to enjoy about this title to give fans of thee adult-themed a touch of enjoyment.

The world building is decent, even if some of the layouts feel somewhat generic. Given how the game was developed, though, there is enough variety in the layouts and designs to make playing Fox Girls Never Play Dirty a relatively enjoyable RPG experience.

A turn based RPG with adult themes (6.5/10)

The main problem with Fox Girls Never Play Dirty is that it lacks originality. While it might be trying to build on the famous RPG Maker developed titles such as Legion Saga, the specific anime theme is quite jarring at times.

Sometimes, the characters can feel like they do not match the personality that their looks would imply, and a lot of the characters and plot developments fall into the usual tropes that one would expect.

• Decent character development (even if characters can feel an odd fit)
• Combat is simple enough to master thanks to the tried-and-tested turn-based system

• Characters can feel somewhat generic to those out of the loop
• Overly sexualised nature of the title might put some off some fans

Fox Girls Never Play Dirty is a lewd RPG that has a weird, but fun story and it ended up being something that I ended up getting really hooked on. I know that if you see a trailer or check out a few screenshots of the game, you may think that it does not look like anything too remarkable and I can admit I had those feelings myself. However, the quirky story, interesting characters, and that classic RPG gameplay made me want to keep on playing.

A Vacation Gone Wrong?

The story of Fox Girls Never Play Dirty is one of the best things about the game. The character that we play as is called, Ryuunosuke, and in looking for a change of pace, he takes a vacation to a “quiet” place called, Stivale. This place is at a bit of a crossroads in its history and the game actually takes place after a great war. I found this alone to be an interesting premise, but it gets much more interesting very quickly!

Hey! Leave That Girl Alone

You see, we see a cute fox girl (hence the name, Fox Girls Never Play Dirty) being harassed by these goons and we step in to help her out. Before we know it, we are joining a group that is rising up against this corrupt group and trying to take the country back! It is weird, but interesting stuff and I found the characters to be well written and be characters that I actually grew to care about. The story can go in a few different ways which I liked, it can have a nicer, romantic ending or a harem style one so there is replayability here for sure.

Staying True To The Classics

The gameplay of Fox Girls Never Play Dirty was something that I got into right away. I will say that it does have that RPG Maker vibe about it, but it is something that is done very well. The game has this fantastic progression system where your character has their starter class and you can take on these different quests in the game to improve it. The stat building is done very well and the combat system is very easy to get to grips with and has a very 90s JRPG thing going on. There are many different side quests as well and taking these on I found was something that benefited me greatly. If you are someone that loves their classic style RPGs, you are going to have a lot of fun with this.

Foxy Lady, I’m Gonna Get Ya!

I will admit that the first trailer I saw for Fox Girls Never Play Dirty did not exactly wow me, but the game the more I played it grew on me and I started to love the art. The RPG Maker style is certainly here, but the whole game has this fantastic charm that I just fell in love with. The XXX content is great, especially if you take a liking to the sexy fox girls! As well as being a game that is easy on the eyes, I was very pleasantly surprised to see that there was some voice acting in the game too which was also done very well.

Pros:

• I thought that the story was very interesting
• There are many interesting characters in the game
• I loved how the gameplay had an old school RPG vibe about it
• The lewd content here is great and some of it is even animated

Cons:

• The sound mix seemed a bit off as sometimes it was a tad too loud
• While the lewd content is great, I wish it was all animated
