Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege
I have spent so much time with Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege that it is crazy! Even if you have never been into the Rainbow Six games before, forget everything you know as this is its own beast entirely! I always tell people that Rainbow Six Siege is best looked at as a more realistic and intense version of Overwatch!
Attack and Defend!
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is a game that is all about online play. The game features two teams of five and you are playing to win the most rounds so that your team can be the one who wins the match. Each match has attackers and defenders and you switch between the two as you play the game.
If you are an attacker your goal can be to kill all of the defenders or complete some kind of objective. If you are a defender, you need to survive and defend an objective. It sounds very, very simple, but there is a real element of skill involved with Rainbow Six Siege and I must admit that the community can be rather unforgiving when it comes to new players.
Before The Storm!
You may think that the game is just all about the rounds, but before a round starts you have a preparation stage. Do not think of this as just an opportunity to go for a toilet break or grab some snacks from the kitchen! Preparation can be key here and really dictate what makes or breaks the round for you.
For attackers, you have these little drone/car devices that you can use to sneak around and see what the defenders are up to. You can then plan your attack accordingly. Also, you can see what characters the opposing team has which can be very helpful too! The defending team can plan how they will defend. You can set up braces on walls, doors and so on, set traps and plan where you are going to make your stand.
Bring In The Operators!
The reason that I compare Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege to Overwatch is that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege has a diverse set of characters for you to play as. These are split into attackers and defenders and each character has their own loadouts as well as special abilities that they can use. Knowing as much as you can about each operator in the game is really handy.
Not only for being able to use them yourself. It is also great as it lets you have an idea of how you can counter them when other players are using them. Ubisoft has been great with supporting the game since launch and there has been a ton of new operators added since the game launched. These are paid DLC, but you can earn money as you play (all be it very slowly) and unlock characters that way.
I freaking love Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege and think it is one of the best shooters to have the great Tom Clancy’s name on it. It is very much a thinking man's kind of shooter, but it is just so much fun. This is the kind of game that is even more fun when you are playing with people that you can actually talk to so you can work together and coordinate your attacks and how you will defend them.
