Gamers who like cute and fun action/adventure games will enjoy Ardy Lightfoot. The challenging game play should keep younger gamers entertained as well.

Light on His Feet

Accompanied by a floating friend, Ardy travels through magical lands in search of the seven pieces of the Power. This game has a few RPG elements: Ardy's early Prologue adventure is reminiscent of Link's search for a piece of the Triforce. The ensuing levels offer a lot of variety, including a mine-cart ride, a search for treasure on a pirate ship, and fights with big bosses.

ProTip: To use these boulders as bridges; jump over them when you come to a space in the ceiling so they can roll past.

Ardy is relatively easy to control. His basic movements consist of running, jumping, and tossing his rotund pal, who requires no control at all, as a weapon. Ardy's high bounce might give beginning gamers a bit of trouble, but once it's mastered, the controls present no problems.

The wonderful, cartoony graphics boast medium-sized sprites with easy-to-follow movements. The colorful backgrounds enhance the fun with nicely detailed mines, burning buildings, and oceans.

The sound is just ordinary and needs more voices and sound effects to be truly noteworthy. The tunes are standard video game orchestrated background music; nothing special.

  • Duck when you reach this point in the Tunnel Chase, or you'll fly out of the cart.
  • In the hidden room on the Island of Ruins, put the pink block on one end of the seesaw and jump on the other end to catapult to the exit above.

He's No Tenderfoot

Ardy Lightfoot combines all the elements of a fun adventure game and adds a tiny taste of RPG to create this winner. Ardy Lightfoot has the Power!

Game Reviews

A new kind of hero is about to whiz across the screen at you - Ardy Light Foot! However, this is a character with a unique twist - he travels with a little buddy named Peck! Peck (resembles a blue Kirby) can be used for a variety of things: he can inflate into a balloon where Ardy can hop on and ride on his back; or, he can be thrown at enemies for a bite attack! Ardy also has a few moves of his own: he can pick up items (like bombs); push large rocks to make steps; and use his tail like a pogo stick for super high jumps! This duo will need all these skills and more to defeat the armada of enemies against them!

The sacred rainbow has shattered into 7 pieces in the 1993 and 1996 release of Ardy Lightfoot. Now it is up to you, as character Ardy, to located all of the pieces and get your wish. However, watch out for the henchmen and various other creatures sent out by the notorious evil king, Visconti. After getting one piece, he will stop at nothing to get to the remaining ones. Assisted by some friends along the way, this anthropomorphic meerkat can attack by bouncing on his tail and protect himself for a short time by hiding behind a mirror. He also has a friend named Pec who is a blue penguin. Used as various devices or a weapon to help Ardy; Pec can become a hot air balloon or even a rock destroyer. Watch out though, if his opponents / enemies hit Ardy, then Pec will disappear. Once that happens, you can only retrieve him from a chest in the game. During the 1995 release by Titus for American audiences, there were several changes to the game. Such changes were various sprites including Ardy’s “waiting” pose, the removal of tied up and crying animals from the background on the forest level, as well as, in level 6, Catry’s “pile of bones” being replaced with her laying on the ground and no acid dripping from the ceiling. This single player platform, developed by ASCII for SNES gaming systems, has an ESRB rating of K-A.

The ever-growing fad for having mascot games is steadily growing. Soon to be Y added to the list is Arty Lightfoot, the spelunker of steel that has a few tricks that will blow your mind!

First of all, the levels in this game are set up so that you will have to not just go through them, but explore them as well. To help you, you perform neat feats like using your tail to do super jumps and to grab enemies, you can find jet-packs and other cool items, and a little blue blob-like side-kick that will help you out when you need it most!
