Chicken Invaders 5

If you have ever wondered what it would be like to be invaded by military-grade enabled Chicken in a desperate attempt to protect your own life look no further than Chicken Invaders 5. Developed and published by InterAction Studios in 2015 this indie game became an indie hit and had a very positive reception amongst fans and critics alike. Available exclusively for Windows PC, this is a classic shoot ‘em up.

Don’t Be a Chicken

The game’s premise is very simple, outrageous, and straightforward Earth is being invaded by intergalactic chicken. These evil chickens are on a mission to exact vengeance upon humanity for the years of oppression and subjugation against the earthly chickens.

And this time their evil plan is to freeze the Earth by blocking out the sunlight, resulting in the ultimate death of all human beings. It is your job to stop them, by traveling the galaxy in search of a mysterious artifact to end the war.

Outside of this premise, there isn’t any meaningful storyline to follow, just excuses for different level designs and frantically shooting up intergalactic chicken. The game will certainly bring back memories of classic arcade games such as Metal Slug, Space Invaders, or newer titles such as Cuphead, and Enter the Gungeon. The game is colorful and well animated, performance-wise it runs smoothly, and won’t require an amazing setup for good FPS. Overall, this is a short game that can be completed in 25 hours by casual players, and while it is fun it isn’t even the best version of the series.

You Gotta Break Some Eggs…

Chicken Invaders 5 takes what its predecessors created, and replicates it exactly the same way. In fact it might be the same game, but with less content and with a sillier plotline and script. Nonetheless, players are given three difficulties which don’t affect gameplay per se, just your usual bullet sponge enemies, and higher rewards for unlocking upgrades. There is also an expanded arsenal of weapons, but much like its predecessors the game never requires you to change weapons to completely cruise by.

There are thirteen unique levels, with different chapters, but the entire game will take about one hour to complete. Another bet was the returning keys, which allows players to unlock thirty-one different upgrades, the downside is that it is an immense grind, and unlike earlier titles here they are just bland.
