Once in a while comes a game so adorable looking that you can't pass it up even if you are a hardened gamer. The upcoming Little Kitty, Big City, seems to be one of those games. The internet was made for cats, after all. So it's a match made in heaven for casual gamers to revel in the feline features of this adventure game.
Little Kitty, Big City is still in development with no planned release date. In true cat-like fashion, the developers simply state that 'cats don't have deadlines.' So with that vague sentence taken into consideration, we'll have to gauge what this cat-based game will offer us. Luckily, we've got some screenshots and prototype footage to judge that.
These Cats Were Made For Talkin'
It's pretty clear from the initial viewpoint of Little Kitty, Big City that this is not your average cat game. The developers are leveraging the qualities of your average feline and translating them into an open-world adventure game. Any cat lover would go nuts with excitement over the idea of taking on the role of a cat in an urban environment.
There hasn't been much objective or narrative outlined yet. However, the visuals and mechanics are pretty intriguing. You'll guide your black cat around the town, climbing, jumping, scratching, and clawing on everything possible to get what you want. That would seemingly be food and affection, feeling like more of an actual cat simulator than an adventure game,
From the prototype footage, it looks like you'll be set goals to accomplish in the town rather than play by levels. That's yet to be confirmed, but arguably players would just be content with scrounging around the city. The environment is rife with animals to befriend, humans to conquer, and general mayhem to cause. They aren't kidding around when they say Little Kitty, Big City.
What remains to be seen is whether there will be a decent game behind this feline exploration epic. At present, we're left to see the cat only gathering some assets without any real goals behind them. It's early days, though. We also know cats are in no rush, so we'll just have to wait and see what the final product of Little Kitty, Big City offers.
The World is Your Yarn Ball
You do get a sense of familiarity with Little Kitty, Big City. Players would be able to tell the visuals, and mayhem mechanics are heavily inspired by Untitled Goose Game. Only this time, it's an entirely different animal - quite literally. Gameplay is a little bit more open, and exploration is encouraged, it would seem.
So will LIttle Kitty, Big City be worth getting? At the moment, absolutely. The exploration potential and the chaos factor alone look remarkably entertaining. We'll have to wait and see what the full scope of the game offers us. But until then, we'll watch the progress of this animalistic adventure with great interest.

- Allowing players to play as a cat in an urban environment
- Cat mechanics translated well into a playable format
- Seemingly lots to explore and do outside core gameplay
