UNEXPECTED

I am someone that likes to try and look at the positives and with a game like Unexpected, that is easier said than done. I think the best way to have fun with this and enjoy your experience here is to look at it more of a lewd scene viewer than an actual game if that makes sense. There is some good stuff here, but it was like the developer had all these great ideas for epic sex scenes, but did not quite know how to link them all together if that makes sense.

Two Ways To Get It On

One of the things that I like is that we can pick between a male main character and a female main character in Unexpected. I went with the female main character first and was kind of blown away by how I got a sex scene right at the start and that kind of set the tone of what to come. This is a game that is all about the characters getting laid as much as possible. This is not a harem style game, we just so happen to have two main characters that everyone wants to have sex with.

Gonna Go Your Way?

The two characters that you can pick from in Unexpected are Ayumu who is the female main character and Nemu who is the male main character. I wish I could go into more detail about what they are like or what this new town they have moved to is all about. However, the story here is pretty much nonexistent and so hard to follow. I do not even think that it is a translation issue either. It is like the bits of dialogue that are here are just there to get you from one sex scene to the next.

What To Do, What To Do?

Talking about the gameplay is Unexpected is a bit on the tricky side. On one hand, this is a very linear experience where you go from sex scene to sex scene with very little in between. The game has a clear path that it wants you to go on and there is very little diverting off that path. However, this is a sandbox game that is also a “where the hell am I supposed to go” kind of game. You have different stats and stuff like that, but the game gives you very little direction. There are some places on the map that you can click on that flat out do not lead to anything! In my humble opinion, this would have been far better as a visual novel rather than a sandbox style game.

Time To Get It On

The saving grace of Unexpected is the visuals. I love the visual style of this game and the kind of monster girl thing that the game has going on is a lot of fun and something that I found to be very hot. The animation in the sex scenes is also nice and smooth too, when you do get a sex scene, you feel like you earned it as you have to do so much random clicking and BS to get it. Overall, if the game did not look as good as it does and if I did not get that fun sex scene right at the start, I am not sure this would have kept my attention.

Pros:

• The characters are hot
• I loved the monster look with the wings, that was sexy
• The animation in the sex scenes is well done
• Playing as the female, gets you a sex scene very early on

Cons:

• The story is just terrible and so nonsensical that it is hard to follow
• The gameplay is convoluted and gets in the way of the great sex scenes
