Assetto Corsa Competizione

Assetto Corsa Competizione has been out for a couple of years now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. However, the game is about to jump into the next generation as it is released for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

The GT3 Championship

Based on the world of GT3 and GT4 cars, this is a fun racing sim that while not perfect can be fun if you are looking for a racing game that does not have Forza or Gran Turismo on the box! Ok, so I am pretty ignorant of all aspects of real motorsport, but I do love my racing games. Still, Assetto Corsa Competizione is going to be something that those who do have a love for this type of racing will appreciate even more. It features real racers, real cars, and real tracks and it has a very deep season mode for you to try and prove your worth as a driver.

There are so many types of racing that you can do here, both online and offline. I love the endurance style races that require a real determination to get through, thankfully, offline you can quit during a race and come back later. The game was made with esports in mind so it has a very online centric kind of vibe to it.

Putting The Real In Realism

This is not a quick pick up and play arcade style racer! This is a full on sim and you have to be willing to put in the work in order to get good at it and succeed. The way the cars handle, the aerodynamic factor, the weather, what is powering the cars, and more are all taken into consideration when it comes to the way that the cars handle. Assetto Corsa Competizione is a very realistic kind of racing game and one that when you do finally figure it all out, is so much more rewarding as a result.

Is This A Game Or Am I Watching Sports Centre?

The presentation of this game is truly something else. I am sure when it does eventually drop on the next generation (well current gen really) consoles that it is going to look even better. They have secured the license from a ton of cars and all the little details right down to the wipers are done as authentically as possible. Again, I am kind of ignorant of real world motor racing and cars in general, but I bet people who love this sport will really get a kick out of how good and authentic everything here looks like.

The Next Generation Difference

The team behind Assetto Corsa Competizione has been great at updating it since it was launched, but what do they have in store for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions of the game?

It sounds like the dynamic weather and the day and night cycle is going to be expanded upon with this new release, meaning you will have to adapt on the fly which is going to make things even more interesting and challenging. Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions of the game will support 4K 60fps as well as speedy loading times too.

Pros:

• The game is stacked when it comes to the types of races you can do
• The presentation is truly incredible
• It is a game that is fun in single player, but really shines thanks to the online community
• The next gen versions look better, play better, and have new dynamic weather effects

Cons:

• The game is great, but the PS4 and Xbox One versions do struggle in places
• This is not the game for you if you prefer arcade style racing games
