Sometimes some of the biggest titles can build so much hype and after months of excitement, turn out to be a huge disappointment. And sometimes these letdowns can be so big that they even inspire indie developers to come up with parody games of your title. Clownfield 2042 is a parody title of a popular FPS game that came out after the original game turned out to be a mess the whole internet made fun of. But what Clownfield 2042 is all about, and what game is it a parody of? Well, let's talk about it.

About the game

Clownfield 2042 is a first-person shooter game in which you’ll be able to explore 3 different maps (War Island, Paradise City, and The Heat) and fight versus bots in 3 game modes: Clownflare (free for all); Hovercraft Zone (Vehicles vs AI); and Clownfield Gateway (custom matches).

Even though it’s an FPS without story mode, there’s no multiplayer, neither online nor offline. However the game developer Riverside Sports has mentioned that they are open to adding one if the game is actually successful. But with everything we’ve mentioned, and based on just the looks of the game, it is incredible to see just how far these developers went just to make fun of a bad game.

A parody

By the title and the game genre, it should be obvious by now that this game is a parody of the infamous Battlefield 2042. That game built a lot of hype as a promising FPS but turned out to be a complete mess that had the internet set on fire for a while.

Clownfield 2042 makes fun of Battlefield 2042 in many ways, starting with the title that’s an obvious wordplay to the title of the game. But there’s also a lot of similar game mechanics included in Clownfield 2042 to make fun of the FPS developed by DICE, mechanics and modes, and even objects. There are similar vehicles, similar weapons, and similar weather systems. And the game is also intentionally plagued with bugs to make fun of the Battlefield 2042 experience.

It is so self-aware that it could actually be better than the original game, and that's saying a lot. Especially when you consider the budget of the Battlefield title and the size of the developer. It is really an attention call for DICE to stand up and get serious when working on a game.

Clownfield 2042 is a parody of Battlefield 2042, but in many ways, it is just like the original game, and in some other ways it is actually a more enjoyable experience. However, even though it is a parody, it is still too small of a game to make it actually good. There's little content, not much to do, and not as many game modes.
