Courtin' Cowboys

Yee-haw, giddy up as we check out Courtin' Cowboys! This is a fantastic lewd game, it is classed as a lewd visual novel, but I feel there is far more to the gameplay than just your standard dialogue options that you may be expecting. I have always had an interest in cowboys and the Old West so this is a game that really did connect with you. I will warn you though, it is not just about sex, there are some pretty dark themes going on in this game depending on the path you go down.

The Wild, Wild West

Our Courtin' Cowboys adventure starts by having us create a character. What is neat about this is that we can be a man or a woman and this changes the dialogue as well as the sex scenes. The game takes place in 1863 and while we are on our travels, we decide to spend the night at this little inn and this is where we meet a whole host of interesting, quirky, and sometimes dangerous people.

The Magnificent 7!

The story in Courtin' Cowboys is very character driven. Each of the seven characters has their own personality and you get to chat with each of them to decide which one you like best and what way you want the story to go. Magnolia is a nice lady who works at the saloon and for all purposes seems normal. Will on the other hand is a kind of weird dude who loves the woods and may or may not have an interest in necrophilia! We also have a character that is just referred to as the Bastard and this guy is about as vile a Western character you will ever see. That is just a small example, but all of the characters have their own story and stuff going on.

The Redemption Sure Is Red!

The gameplay of Courtin' Cowboys is awesome and far more than just another lewd visual novel. Once we have finished with our deep character customization, we get to explore the town. We get to chat to the different characters and there are seven routes that the story can go down, one for each of the characters. As well as the visual novel stuff, we have a little bit of item management as well as two mini-games. One of which is like a rhythm game where you have to press the arrows at the same time and the other is like the classic mobile phone game Snake that we all played in the late 90s and early 00s.

Dances With Wolves!

Visually, I love what they have done here with Courtin' Cowboys! It has the look of an old school PC game. Big character portraits that do a wonderful job of making you connect with the characters even more as they are so expressive. It has a kind of higher end pixel art vibe going on and also some very well done what looks like hand drawn art too. Some of the stuff can be pretty dark I will not lie, but it all works well with the tone of the game.

Pros:

• I loved the Old West setting
• They do a good job of making the characters feel unique
• There is a decent amount of variety to the gameplay
• There are seven different paths the story can go down

Cons:

• It may be a tad dark for some
• It was so good, it left me wanting more!
