Deceit 2 is a game that for me came out of nowhere. A buddy of mine sent me a message with a link to this game and just said that we needed to get in on this! I remember during lockdown me and my friends spent hours and hours playing a specific multiplayer game where one of the players was always “sus” and we had an absolute blast, but that game just kind of got left in the dust, but this looks like it is bringing that gameplay back, but with a horror twist!

A Ritual Gone Wrong!

One of the things that I think is really cool about Deceit 2 is that as well as being a fun multiplayer game. There is actually lore and story here that we are playing a part of. In the late 70s, a ritual that was being done by an occult group went wrong, which resulted in pretty much all the people inside of Milhaven Asylum being killed! Fast forward to today and a group is trying to find out what went wrong here, but they get pulled into this twisted ritual themselves and end up in a fight for survival.

With A Twist!

Now, that story there is great, but what is cool about Deceit 2 is that we also get to play from the role of the bad guys too. There is a twisted games master that wants to redo this ritual and they have a couple of “infected” human players at their disposal that they can use to help them and kill the other humans as part of their horrific sacrifice. I just love the whole lore and style that this game has gone for, it makes for a really fun and horrific kind of experience.

Surviving The Night!

The gameplay of Deceit 2 from the “good” players' point of view sees us needing to survive and put a stop to this ritual. We need to work together to solve puzzles, find clues, and of course, try and figure out who the infected players are. The game has a very Among Us kind of vibe about the core gameplay where trying to gather evidence and purge the game of the infected with their own banishing ritual is where the fun really is. Of course, you must be really sure about who you are accusing as if you banish someone that is not an infected, you are a person down for the rest of the game!

Twisting And Tricking

The players who get to play as the infected in Deceit 2 are randomly chosen and they are given special powers by the games master. There is a horror filled alternate dimension where they can use these powers and pull in the other players to wreak havoc with! I think that a huge part of the fun here is going to be screwing with the players and making them doubt themselves all the while picking them off one at a time so you can kill them all and complete the ritual!

Look, as I write this Deceit 2 is still not complete and it does have that “early access” tag on it so you know if you are getting into this early that there will be issues and more content to come at a later date. However, I still think that there is a lot of fun to be had here and if you are looking for a game that has a bit of Among Us and Dead by Daylight about it, I truly do think that what we have here is the best of both worlds.

Pros:

I love the twisted horror tale that is being told
Playing as both sides is going to be fun
The idea of trying to out the infected is awesome
Playing as an infected means you get to mess with your friends!

Cons:

The game is in very early access so more content will need to be added
Games like this do tend to be more fun if you are playing with people, you actually know
