Dwarves: Glory, Death and Loot

Rougelikes, the nowadays addiction. They have something that makes people feel they are accomplishing something; it’s a feeling of creating something, morphing it into something more powerful. It can either be a warrior with his armor, a character with a set of powers that will let you advance, or it can be dwarves, exactly like in Dwarves: Glory, Death and Loot.

That’s right, dwarves. How? It’s very simple, as Dwarves: Glory, Death and Loot offers us the complete roguelike experience, making you the leader of a clan of dwarves whose objective is to kill other dwarves and beasts, get some recognition, and of course, get a lot of money. The objective: create a clan of powerful dwarves to conquer the lands and get all the richness of them. Let’s check it out.

The Deadly Dwarf Squad

The game is as follows: you start your quest to conquer the world with two little dwarves. They are fierce warriors but don’t have enough experience, so they have to take on small objectives to get bits of gold that will work for you to armor your dwarves with better and better gear.

As you continue, you’ll be getting more and more dwarves in your legion; the objective is to have a lot of them; the more, the merrier! With even more gold, you can start educating your dwarves so they take different roles and positions in the field.

You can have tanky dwarves, which can tank a lot of damage and be the frontline of your legion. Then, you have access to archers and assassins, two complex roles only for those dwarves who know how to get out of sketchy situations or how to position themselves so they can’t get hit by anything. Lastly, you can have fierce warriors, which aren’t more than glass cannons; they do a lot of damage but can’t hang on the field for a long time.

Every dwarf’s role has specialized gear, which will boost your dwarf’s different stats; you can make your dwarves tankier, stronger, faster or bulkier; that’s up to you!

Of course, you won’t be a simple commander who doesn’t get into the battle; as you keep winning battles, you’ll be getting gems, which works for you to get more skills in your skill book. This skill book is important, as you can decide your playstyle through it, enhancing the stats you need the most, like on-battle healing and defense or AoE damage and offensive output.

The game will be getting difficult over time, you must command your dwarves to victory. It won’t be easy, that’s for sure!

Pixel Art Dwarves

The game’s style is flawless. You can clearly see the inspiration from 16-bit games but inside a very-related aesthetic, remembering games like Ghosts and Goblins. Roguelikes and Pixel Art-like games are a combination we haven’t seen for a while but have been a bit present nowadays. Another great example of a game like this one is Just King.

Dwarves: Glory, Death and Loot feel like an amazing game. It has a fresh concept you can’t find anywhere, and it’s something new gamers haven’t seen yet.

Pros

  • The Dwarf progression is fair
  • There’s a lot of variety, which makes the game funnier to play and not a straight path to follow
  • The graphics are cool

Cons

  • It has a rather-generic music
  • The menu and HUD can be way better than they are
