Pokemon Unite

Pokémon UNITE is a brand new MOBA game set in the Pokémon universe. It’s fast-paced, exciting, and full of new features never seen before in a Pokémon game, so be sure to give it a shot if you’re interested in trying something new. Now, without further ado, let me tell you a bit more about the game’s features.

MOBA Gameplay

MOBA stands for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, which is a type of strategy game where two teams compete against each other for victory on a set map. If you’ve ever played League of Legends or DOTA 2, know that Pokémon UNITE is very similar.

The playable characters are all Pokémon in this game, and each one has access to a variety of different attacks that can be used against both AI characters and enemy players to deal damage and score points. Whichever team scores the most points by the time the timer runs out is declared the winner. The gameplay may seem simple, which it is, but it’s also a whole lot of fun, so definitely consider downloading Pokémon UNITE for yourself.

Levelling up in-game

In MOBA games, characters have abilities and attacks that improve over the course of the battle, and in Pokémon UNITE, the same can be seen thanks to the evolution mechanic. Pokémon start out in their first evolutions but become bigger and unlock new moves as the fight goes on. Take Charmander, for example, which starts out with relatively weak moves like Flame Burst and Fire Spin before eventually evolving into Charmeleon and then Charizard. Charizard has access to both Flamethrower and Flare Blitz, as well as a special Unite Move that deals even more damage. Pretty awesome, right?

Playable Pokémon

Alongside Charizard and its evolutions, there are plenty of other Pokémon you can play as in Pokémon UNITE. Included in the list are the following Pokémon and their evolutions: Pikachu, Snorlax, Greninja, Machamp, Gengar, Cinderace, Lucario, Talonflame, Mr. Mime, Slowbro, Crustle, Eldegoss, Venusaur, Absol, Wigglytuff, Alolan Ninetales, Garchomp, and Cramorant.

If you don’t see your favourite Pokémon listed there, don’t worry, as many more Pokémon are going to be added to the game later down the line, including both Gardevoir and Blastoise.

Pokémon UNITE brings something new and refreshing to the world of Pokémon, and it’s fantastic to see. The MOBA gameplay style may be unfamiliar to you if you’re a diehard Pokémon, but after some time getting used to the mechanics, you'll no doubt fall in love with the game.

• Team-based battles allow you to play with and against friends
• Graphics are elegant and vibrant

• Many popular Pokémon are missing from the playable character roster which may be disappointing for some players
• Would be cool to see some more map variety
