Story

In Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality you play as a clone of Morty, created by Rick to complete simple chores around the house. Appearing in Rick's garage, the clone is berated by Rick and Morty and tasked with finishing a load of laundry.

After the clone successfully completes Rick's laundry, he attempts to kill the clone, sending him to Purgatory. In Purgatory, clone Morty is given the option to return to the garage, where he is left unattended while Rick and Morty leave for an unscheduled adventure. From the safety of Rick's garage, the clone must help Rick by completing various odd jobs, interacting with Rick's inventions, and completing puzzles. This leads the clone through a humorous and quirky adventure of his own, full of sci-fi jokes and weird scenarios.

Gameplay

Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality is played from a first-person perspective, with the player controlling the clone Morty as he completes small tasks. The game is separated into nine stages, each with an overall objective and story to complete. As a simple clone of Morty, the player has limited powers, and must interact with elements of the environment to solve puzzles and make progress. You can move around stages using a simple teleportation mechanic, swapping between preset destinations with unique items to experiment with. If you ever get confused by one of the game's puzzles, you can always refer to the handy whiteboard hanging in the garage or talk to Rick using a fancy, high-tech watch.

The stages in the game aren't very challenging, but instead encourage players to experiment with interesting mechanics. For example, you can play around with some of Rick's inventions in the garage, allowing you to transform and combine different objects. Some segments of the game have shooting gallery-style gameplay, breaking up the pace with some simple action. Overall, the game is designed to slowly guide players through weird and comedic situations as they figure out simple puzzles. The major downside is the game's short length, as it can be completed in just a couple of hours.

Conclusion

Fans of the Rick and Morty cartoon will definitely enjoy this irreverent and adult adventure through the world of virtual reality. Thanks to witty dialogue and unique scenarios, it's a consistently entertaining and funny journey through the popular animated world. Although it's not very challenging or long, Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality makes up for it with some truly peculiar puzzles and innovative uses of VR.
