Riftbound

Riftbound is one of the most interesting looking strategy games I have seen in quite some time. There is a demo currently available for this and I found myself wanting to just keep on playing it. It certainly got me very pumped up for the full game to be released, but until then the demo is going to keep me very busy. I wanted to share with you guys my thoughts on why this is looking like one of the most fun strategy games to be released this year.

Closing The Rift

The setting and story of Riftbound is fantasy based and that is more than cool with me as I love fantasy. There is a dark evil that is making its way through the land and it is up to you to fight it back and seal the rift! Have you ever noticed that in a movie, game, TV show, or whatever, when there is a rift, it always has to be closed? Just for once, I would like to be cracking open a rift.

Pushing Back The Enemy

The enemy will always be making their way towards you and it is up to you to come up with a strategy in order to push them back. There are bosses to deal with and they can change things up to stop you from getting too comfortable as well. You can use different magic abilities to take the fight directly to them or you can be more defensive if that suits your playstyle more.

Summoning And Evolving!

There is a fair bit of depth to the gameplay in Riftbound. As well as fighting the enemy back, you are able to summon these awesome elementals from different types of magic. This is not only fun, but it also adds another dimension to the combat system. You can also evolve these elementals during battle as well.

You Can Play Too!

One of the main reasons that I got so excited about the game was that it has some fantastic accessibility options. There are various difficulty levels that you can set the game at, however, there is also a casual option that will take away a great deal of the challenge, making it perfect for those who like the idea of the game, but who are not usually all that good when it comes to strategy game.

The Beauty Of War

I am very impressed with the way that Riftbound looks. The creatures that are coming at you have a lot of personality to them and during the campaign, you will go from green forests to dark mountain areas and even snowy mountain tops. The variety is great and it helps get you more pumped up as you battle. Overall, the whole game has a really slick presentation

Pros:

• I like the fantasy style that the game has
• Being able to call in elementals and then upgrade them is pretty cool
• There are tons of magic attacks and abilities that you can learn in the game
• It has a really cool animated style to the presentation

Cons:

• It is still just listed as coming out in 2022
• I do worry that some of the later levels may be way too hard for me!
