Pleasant Life

Imagine the modern Japanese countryside. A small and most ordinary town where nothing interesting has happened for years - the local newspapers write about a new kind of tea ceremony or how the local official paid another surprise visit to the school. Stepmother Love begins as a sad story on behalf of a heroine named Chuck Dedo. She is now thirty-six years old, doing well in her life - financially well off, a trying husband, a cozy house, a son in college.

The nightmare and horror of the past

But you don't know what happened just a few years ago. Nightmare and horror - Chucky's best friend died... It was an accident at work. Chucky was well acquainted with her closest friend's husband, so she immediately went to give him a shoulder to lean on - losing his wife, after all, is a hundred times more tragic than losing a comrade. Both men shared the same grief, they mulled over this topic for twenty-four hours: whether it could be otherwise, whether the death was painless, how to cope with this horror. The two people became so close, so close, that in a couple of weeks they didn't miss a single day to meet. After a few more months, they hooked up and became a couple.

Gameplay

The gameplay begins four years after these events. The game is played in first person, on behalf of stepson Chucky, who left for another city to attend college after his birth mother died. Now he's coming home - his stepmother is waiting for him at home, because his father is always at work. You can give the main character any name you want. The stepmother has not become a stepmother to the main character, he rather sees her as a sexy woman and he will enjoy living in the same house with her - so he thinks as he goes there. What Chucky is thinking at this point:

• "Husband works all the time - it's lonely at home."
• "I want more affection because my husband's gone cold."
• "My stepson's coming over soon, I have to make a nice dinner."

The gameplay follows the standard form for the genre. Images and character dialogues appear on the screen. You can either skip frames with the mouse or put automatic rewind. Often the player must choose an action from several available options, such as:

• Go to bed or look in the computer.
• Wait for the stepmother to fall asleep and sneak into her room to peek, or honestly admit to sexual attraction
• Interrupt the stepmother or wait for her to talk and object

This choice determines the direction the story will take and where it will take you. Maybe your decisions will lead to a maximum distance with your stepmother or maybe she will change her status, stop being a stepmother and become your girlfriend.
