In this heart pounding multiplayer horror game, players will understand the term “hide and seek” in a whole new way. This game pits one person, dubbed the stranger, against a team of players. The goal of the stranger is to kill all the team members. The goal of the team is to stay alive until 6AM.

The stranger is chosen at random in the lobby and must choose a window to attack after the game begins. He can do things like cut off powers and has other special skills to make this happen.

If you’ve ever played Among Us, it’s a similar theme in terms of game play, but with horrific graphics and sound rather than cute cartoony ones.

Graphics are Next Level

One of the first things that stands out after you open this game is the incredible graphics. The backdrops are moody and atmospheric, the player skins are detailed, and the new unreal 5 engine gives it ultra smooth movement. The game is still in development, but the developers have mentioned that cosmetics will eventually be available as well.

Upgrades Available

Winning the game isn’t just for fun in StrangerZ. If you win enough games, you can get new equipment for your character. Most importantly, XP can’t be purchased, so there’s no pay-to-win factor to compete with. The game rewards player skills, which in itself is highly rewarding. Too many games make it virtually impossible to succeed for free-to-play players so they can make more money. This is a refreshing change.

Work in Progress

Although the premise of the game is sound, it’s very evident work still needs to be done. The demo, which is available temporarily for players, doesn’t always work. Many players report the game crashing before it has even started.

Others have complained that the game does not fill with AI if there are not enough players, motion blur can’t be turned off, and that there aren’t any easily accessible settings. Other complaints include no option to change the language, particularly to Chinese, and some major typos.

It’s likely that these are simply not available because it is a demonstration, but with over 70,000 people wish listing this game so far, the pressure is on to make this game as good as it can be. If these errors aren’t fixed however, this may end up being a very disappointing game.

This game could easily become a 10/10—if the issues with it are fixed. The premise is exciting, the graphics are amazing, and there’s something heart pounding about trying to keep the chilling Stranger out of your house. Unfortunately, this is balanced by the fact that there is currently a lot of errors with it. The game is full of everything from typos to outright crashing when the game is simply opened. All of these things will have to be fixed if the game is to ascend to true greatness.
