The Isle is a Prehistoric Massively Multiplayer Dinosaur Survival video game released in 2015 for Mac OS, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux. Developed by Afterthought LLC and The Isle Development Team.

The game invites you to participate in a living prehistoric ecosystem as you become a predator or prey on servers with over 100 players, all as hungry and dangerous as you are. Form herds, create nests, defend your young, hunt, and claim territory.

About the game

By joining The Isle you will play as one of the dozens of unique creatures, from tiny speedy herbivores like Dryosaurus to bloodthirsty behemoths like T. Rex or Allosaurus. Use your natural abilities and senses to stay up the food chain and become one of the strongest creatures.

It is a survival horror game, in which you will explore various landscapes from dense forests and open plains to treacherous mountains and dark swamps full of beasts. Your only objective will be to survive.

Survival or Sandbox?

The main game mode is survival, a tense and difficult experience where you must grow up fast or die young. Dinosaurs in Survival mode progress through various life stages, starting out small and vulnerable. Use your sense of smell, night vision, and wits to survive long enough to grow bigger, more powerful, and unlock new abilities, like nesting. But, for players who want a less intense experience, Sandbox mode allows them to play an expanded roster of dinosaurs. You can jump right in as an adult super predator, with no major penalties or consequences for dying.
