See Thru: Need a Friend? Is a lewd visual novel that is not for those that are easily shocked or scared of darker stories. What we have here is a story of obsession and a real sick kind of unbalanced love that once it gets its claws into you is very hard to escape. I played through the entirety of what is on offer right now and I was very impressed. So impressed that I grabbed my phone and texted a couple of buddies as I wanted other people to play this so I had someone to chat with about it!

Fancy A Ride To Work

See Thru: Need a Friend? Is the kind of game that is going to be quite challenging for me to talk about in regards to its plot. Not because it is hard to understand, but I do not want to spoil anything here! This is the kind of game that you have to experience for yourself firsthand. Basically, we play as a regular guy and our “best friend” has offered us a ride to work and we think that nothing is wrong with this so we take him up on his “kind” offer, only to discover that he has other plans for us.

Like A Puppet On Strings

Turns out that our best friend has some deep and very dark obsession with us. See Thru: Need a Friend? Does a wonderful job of making you feel uneasy and that there is always something wrong, but you can never for sure put your finger on what exactly it is. The writing is great, I loved the use of an Edgar Allan Poe quote early on as that really does set the tone for the kind of dark and disturbing story we are in for. It goes as dark and bad as you would expect a story about obsession to go. I get that this kind of thing is not for everyone and if you are just looking for a XXX visual novel to get your rocks off to, this is probably not for you.

Your Friend Till The End

You better believe that was a Chucky reference! See Thru: Need a Friend? Is a lewd visual novel and it does throw a few choices your way as you progress through the game. I decided to try and be kind and try to see the good in our “best friend” however, you can be a bit more aloof and keep them at arm's length if you would rather do that. From what I can tell, the completed version of this game is going to have many different paths and outcomes for the story so I am excited to get back to this when the next update drops as there are some very interesting and messed up ways that I can see the developer taking this story.

Tate? Is That You?

With a dark and disturbing story, See Thru: Need a Friend? Also has a dark and disturbing art style. It is all twisted and jaggy, kind of like if Tim Burton decided to make a lewd creepy visual novel. The “best friend” character creeped the hell out of me pretty much right from the start. He has a kind of Tate Langdon vibe from American Horror Story about him, maybe with a bit of Kai from the Cult season too. However, he has this kind of charisma about him which makes you take to him. I was very, very impressed with the visuals and presentation of this game in general.

Pros:

• The “friend” is just so creepy
• I love the writing and how twisted it is
• The game manages to make you feel very uneasy
• I love the whole super dark Tim Burton style the visuals have

Cons:

• I am not sure when or if there will be an update adding more story to the game
• The dark, twisted, disturbing nature of the story is not going to be for everyone
