I Wani Hug that Gator!

Let me start by saying that I Wani Hug that Gator! Is one of the most beautiful visual novels that I have ever played. If you are looking for a XXX filled sex fest kind of visual novel, keep on walking as this is so much more than that. This is a game that took me through every step of the emotional spectrum and made me truly connect with two characters that I came to love by the end of the story. With multiple ways things can go, this is one of the few visual novels where I wanted to see every aspect of what it had to offer.

Finding My Spark

The main character in I Wani Hug that Gator! Is a young man called Inco and we do not have the best home life. Hey, we have plenty of money and nice things, but our parents kind of just ignore us and we move all the time. This leads to us having some self esteem issues and not really knowing who we are or what we want out of life. Once again we are moving and it is our final year of high school and we have the chance to help Inco find his way and start to love himself and maybe others. Oh, the school we are going to is filled with anthropomorphic dinosaur type people and we are the only human!

Just The Two Of Us

While there are many memorable characters in I Wani Hug that Gator!, the real connection and the real emotional impact of the story is the stuff between Inco and this girl he meets called Olivia. In many ways, Oliva is like Inco, kind of broken and needing to find her own way in life. This is just such a great story, it will make you smile, make you laugh and it will even break your heart and make you sad on occasion too. The writing is just fantastic, these actually feel like real characters and it is impossible not to feel a connection to them as you progress through the story. It is a slice of life kind of story and one of the very best that I have experienced.

Walking The Right Path

At its core, I Wani Hug that Gator! Is a standard visual novel where the gameplay is mainly you making various choices. My first playthrough of the game is my own, this was THE playthrough and that is how I see the story. This is the same for games like The Walking Dead too, I play them and that original playthrough is my story if that makes sense. However, I was so connected to these characters that I needed to know what would have happened if on some of the choices I had a tough time deciding between, I picked something else. This is one of those very rare games that once you have beaten it, it will stick with you for a few days.

Welcome To Dino High

The presentation of I Wani Hug that Gator! Is amazing, the game has this very slick hand-drawn kind of style to it, kind of like a cartoon that you are in the middle of. The character designs are awesome and while this is a dino/reptile school, you do have some other character designs, Inco for example is a dude and there is a gorilla like character as well. The game has a very typical high school kind of setting and design to it and I think that they have done an amazing job bringing this story to life. What is really interesting is that while the characters may not look human, you truly do connect with them on a human level thanks to the writing. You will stop seeing them as “creatures” and start seeing them as people pretty early on.

Pros:

• This is one of the best games I have played this year
• The quality of the writing is spectacular
• You truly do connect with these characters
• The whole game is a work of art

Cons:

• I would kill for some kind of physical release of this, someone needs to make it happen
• I have no other complaints about this game at all!
