The Princess Diaries

Nope, The Princess Diaries is not a video game adaptation of the movie… which could have been pretty awesome, especially if they went the lewd route! What we are checking out today is a lewd visual novel game that is a little on the short side, but it was a fun enough distraction while it lasted and I wanted to put my crown on, my royal robes, grab my scepter, and share my regal thoughts on the game with you fine folks today.

Not Like It Is In The Movies!

I have to say that the premise of The Princess Diaries is actually quite clever. When I saw the title, I thought for sure that this game was going to be about living it up as a princess and getting what we want and getting to “do” who and what we want as well. Instead, it takes the rather unique approach to the whole being a princess thing. You see, while on the outside, princess, Hazel has the dream life of wealth and getting pampered and looked after. The reality is that she is pretty much a slave and she is going to be forced to live her life in a certain way. Thankfully her “mom” is here to show her the ropes and offer her some escapism through the world of erotica! Look, this is not winning any awards for its writing, but as I said, the premise is decent.

A Different Approach

Another interesting design choice in The Princess Diaries is the presentation. I may be in the minority here, but when I hear “princess” I think of classic and fantasy style stuff, and going into this game, that was what I was sure the presentation of things was actually going to be like. However, they went for something different which I ended up liking. This has a more “realistic” and modern look, Hazel looks, feels, and acts very much like a more modern kind of girl. I just wish that she did not look so young as it verges on creepy if I am being honest with you. There is plenty of lewd content in the game and it does not waste any time getting to it either which is great if you want a sexy game that gets straight to the XXX content.

Very Much A One And Done Reign!

The gameplay of The Princess Diaries is not going to blow you away as what we have here is very much your basic lewd visual novel style of game. You get to make a few choices as things progress and ultimately there are two ways things can go. Just be warned that there is a path with a dude and avoiding this pretty much ends the game. This is a very short game, but in its defense, I do feel that the short length of the game is probably something that works to its advantage. Had I been forced to play this a bit longer, it probably would have not been as much of a positive experience as it ended up being.

Pros:

• The idea of the game is interesting
• Hazel is not your typical princess
• There is plenty of lewd content in the game
• It does not ask much of a time commitment from the player

Cons:

• I do feel that Hazel verges on looking “too young”
• This is very much a basic lewd visual novel and a one and done style game
