Yesterday’s Crossroads

I cannot remember the last time I was as excited about a lewd visual novel as I am Yesterday’s Crossroads. As I write this, we have a prologue chapter that is serving as an introduction to the game. However, I feel that there is enough content here to review the prologue as its own thing and I think that what we have here has all the makings of an absolute top tier lewd visual novel. I hand on heart could not have been any more impressed with what I experienced here and I am not ashamed to admit that I have been checking back almost daily to see if any news has dropped about the next update!

Shot Through The Heart!

Thank you to Yesterday’s Crossroads for giving me the perfect opportunity to dish out a Bon Jovi reference (with Crossroads being their first greatest hits compilation)! Now that is out of the way, I have to say that above all else, it is the story of this game that has gotten me so hooked. What we basically have here is a guy that has had his heart broken on more than one occasion and he is really struggling to find love, trust women and be happy in love.

She’s A Little Run Away!

Another Bon Jovi reference in our Yesterday’s Crossroads review? The game introduces a foreign lady who has just come to town, but there are also a handful of other love interests that we get to chat to as well. What I like about the love interests in the game is that the game only has a few of them. It keeps things more focused and it is much easier for the player to keep track of who is who. It also gives each character more time to develop and even in the prologue version of the game I am talking about today, the characters are pretty deep and interesting. Some are nice, some are mean, but they all feel unique.

These Five Words I Swear To You!

Again? Anyway, Yesterday’s Crossroads as I write this is best described as a kinetic lewd visual novel. There is not actually any what we could call gameplay going on here. While some may not be down with that and trust me, I get it. I do have to say that the story, writing and the characters are so well done that you do not mind at all. It is very slow paced, but I mean that positively. This is a real slow burn kind of story that is character driven so you care about these people and want to either see them happy or get some kind of comeuppance!

Living On A Prayer

Look, we had to end this Yesterday’s Crossroads review with another forced Bon Jovi reference and I refuse to apologize for it! Anyway, we need to talk about the visuals of this game, and let me tell you, they are incredible! Even though this is just the prologue I am talking about here, the character renders are some of the best that I have ever seen! They have gone for a much more grounded, realistic kind of look and I think that helps with the more emotional kind of story that they are trying to tell here.

Final Score: 9.5/10 (based on prologue version of the game)

As you can tell, I am a huge Bon Jovi fan, but also, I clearly loved my time with Yesterday’s Crossroads. I cannot think of another lewd game where the prologue or the first chapter got me as invested as this one here has.

Pros:

• The main character is flawed, raw, and real
• I liked how well written the entire cast of characters were
• The visuals are incredible
• This is legit shaping up to be one of the greatest lewd visual novels of all time!

Cons:

• This is only the prologue and no word on when the next chapter will be released
• The next chapter has a lot to live up to, perhaps my expectations are too high!
