Dies irae - Acta est Fabula is an interactive novel, action and adventure visual novel where a modern day Japanese girl tries to survive in an apocalyptic time.

Message from 1943

"The earth is drenched with blood and the sky is scorched with fire. All men will be exterminated by the sword, and there will be none left to breathe. Leave nothing alive, bring it to the sacrificial altar and set it on fire." - quote from Germany in 1943. After the war, the main Nazis disappeared, only rumors remained-no one knew if they were alive or dead. Seventy years after that, terrible things happen. In the end, a powerful evil can always be revived...

Ren Fujii

The setting of this work is the provincial town of Suwahara in Japan in 2007. The protagonist of the novel is Ren Fujii, a girl who lives here with the thought, "I wish my whole life could go on in the same calm routine without any disturbing events." However, not everything is so simple in this life:

• Murderers hunting for people's heads
• Nightmares with guillotines
• Absurdity beyond common sense engulfs the city and destroys it

More about all this... Ren Fujii's everyday life changes dramatically when she sees a "guillotine" displayed in a museum. Every night, the girl dreams of going to the guillotine. Then a mysterious series of murders takes place in the town of Suwabara. The victims are beheaded with "something that looks like a sword." Moreover, the protagonist begins to dream about the serial murders. Who is the killer? Life becomes a nightmare.

Thrash begins here

The story continues to grow. As if in spite of the guillotine and serial murders in dreams and in reality in the city appear scary creatures, they can not be called human. A group of guilt-free people calling themselves the "Thirteen Knights of the Holy Spear." They are reborn straight from the forties of the twentieth century, from the country of Germany. These animal killers come back to life and attack a small Japanese town.

An interesting aspect of this work is the existence of a magical weapon called a "Relic", possessed by the members of the Thirteen Knights of the Holy Spear. People who possess the relic become strong, they are practically immortal, you can defeat them with the same weapon. Even if you do this, they will not get anything:

• Shoot them with a machine gun, pistol, grenade launcher
• Burn out their bodies with a flamethrower
• Throw them into the mouth of a volcano
• Come at them with a saw

I repeat, the fascists will not be harmed. So watch out.

Gameplay

In your hands clicking on the keyboard is the life of Ren Fuji and many other Japanese. Dies irae - Acta est Fabula is a visual novel, so there is always a choice. There are a lot of endings where the heroine dies. The novella itself takes probably forty or fifty hours, it's quite lengthy.
