Second Chance

Second Chance is a lewd visual novel that has a pretty interesting premise. I had quite a bit about this one, mainly that it featured some truly gorgeous looking character renders. As I had a bit of spare time this week, (three-day weekend, woohoo!) I decided to jump in and give the game a go. I actually played through it twice so I am pretty sure I saw the majority of what the game had to offer and thought that I would share my thoughts with you guys and let you know if I feel if it is worth playing or not.

To Forgive Or Not Forgive, That Is The Question?

As I said in the intro, Second Chance is a game that has a pretty good premise. The weird thing about the story is that the game talks about a “role model” coming back into your life, this is actually your mother and she pretty much abandoned you and now you have to move back in with her. She is trying to make it up to you and make up for lost time and it is ultimately up to you if you want to forgive her or not.

Black And White, No Grey!

While I liked the idea of the premise in Second Chance, even if I am not into the whole incest thing. The execution could have used some work. There is no middle ground in this game at all, you forgive her and you are pretty much locked out from getting it on with the many other girls in the game. If you do not forgive her, you can have a harem of girls, but you are an absolute jerk to your mom. I think a third option where you kind of forgive her, but do not want to bang her would have been good.

Beauty, But Certainly No Beast!

The character renders in Second Chance are fantastic! There is a decent selection of girls in the game and the realistic design of everything works really well for the story that they are telling. There are also plenty of XXX scenes too, but this is the one area of the presentation where the game is not that great. While there is animated sex scenes, they are rather jerky and it is like they are made with about five frames of animation that just loop for a few seconds. It is not horrible, but a bit more time spent on this would have been better.

You Know What To Do

What I liked about the gameplay of Second Chance was that it was very easy to know what choices to select to stay on the path you wanted to be on. Like most other visual novel games, you will be reading the story and then get a choice to make at various points of the game. Sometimes the choices can be kind of vague or just really hard to tell what is the right one for the path you want to take. I do not think that is the case here, this made doing two playthroughs of the game much easier.

Pros:

• I liked the premise of the story
• There is a decent selection of women in the game
• It has some fantastic character models
• I thought it was good how it was easy to know what choices to make

Cons:

• The animation is not very good at all
• Once you start down a path, it feels like you are locked in
