Bikini Karate Babes 2: Warriors of Elysia

Wow, how the heck did Bikini Karate Babes 2 Warriors of Elysia get made? The original game was released in 2002 and I kind of see how it was “ok” to release a game like that back then. However, this came out in 2011 for goodness sake. How did this get any kind of funding? Even crazier is that there is a third game in this series, that is right, this is a trilogy. The first game fell in the so bad it is good and you have to try it category, but what about this one?

Babes, Babes, Babes

When you start the game, you have a decent selection of babes in Bikini Karate Babes 2 Warriors of Elysia and you can unlock more. From what I understand they are some kind of goddesses and they are all fighting to see who is the best. Like the original game, each character has their own motivations for wanting to fight. This came out after the Mortal Kombat reboot by the way!

Three Is The Magic Number

Gameplay is where Bikini Karate Babes 2 Warriors of Elysia falls apart. This is a one on one fighting game just like the last game. You have to play with the keyboard, there is no controller support here at all! You only have three buttons to worry about, punch, kick, and special, again like the first game. the AI is so dumb, you can latterly just spam the punch button and they will stand there and take it. I did manage to pull off a couple of special movies, but I would be lying if I told you I knew what I was doing.

A Solo Fighter?

Now, I just got done telling you that Bikini Karate Babes 2 Warriors of Elysia has to be played with a keyboard and this is a bigger problem than you would think. You see, fighting games are at their best when played against a friend, but have you ever tried playing a game where two people share the same keyboard? It is impossible, I have to say if this had controller support, I think there could be some fun to be had playing against a friend.

FMV Of The Future

The thing that makes people want to play Bikini Karate Babes 2 Warriors of Elysia is the babes! This game is all done with digitized characters and they look great. There is actually a huge leap in the quality of the characters from the first game and it all looks very sharp. The characters are done so well that it makes the background look like absolute garbage, they look like a low end mobile game, but at least the characters look, and move good and are wearing very little clothing. You have to wonder what a day in the life of one of these ladies was like when they were making this game. To be fair, they are all very athletic and do some badass looking martial arts moves. If all those FMV games of the 90s looked this good, it maybe would have caught on more!

Pros:

• There is a decent selection of characters
• You can unlock even more characters
• The characters look fantastic, they are very clear and the animation is not bad
• These chicks are pretty badass with the martial arts moves that they do

Cons:

• Playing with the keyboard sucks, but it doesn’t matter as the AI just stands there most of the time
• Why do you have to use the keyboard???
