There is certainly no shortage of fighting games here at Gamefabrique and we have them all in one convenient spot for you right here. No matter if you like to throw a hadoken as Ken or throw a shadow kick as Johnny Cage, we have you well and truly covered! While it can be hard to know what fighting game to go for, we decided to put together a few top picks that we feel would be an ideal place for you fellow fighting game fanatics to start.

Starting off a list of the best fighting games is tough as what is the best game to start with? We decided to go for a game that is pretty much universally loved and that game is Marvel vs Capcom 2. This was a huge game changer when it was released. It had a massive roster of Capcom and Marvel favorites and it featured some truly incredible looking backgrounds and a phenomenal soundtrack. The leap from the first game to this is incredible and this is still the best game in the franchise!

We really wanted to have a Mortal Kombat game be highlighted on our fighting games list and we decided to go for Mortal Kombat 9. Truth be told, this is a tremendous trilogy of games, and the way it brought the MK story to a new generation was amazing. This game retells the first three Mortal Kombat games in a fantastic cinematic style. It still looks great to this day and once you have played through this, you will want to play straight through Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11 straight after it!

You cannot talk about the most awesome and iconic fighting games and ignore the series that kicked off this genre and that is Street Fighter. The game we are suggesting you start with this the iconic Super Street Fighter II Turbo. No matter if it is the arcade original or the port on the 3DO. This was a massive deal when it was released and was the ultimate version of Street Fighter II. It still holds up to this day and is just as much fun now as it was in the 90s.

The Tekken series needs some love, while it is a multiplatform series these days, it was a Sony exclusive for many years and we decided to showcase Tekken Tag Tournament which is one of the more forgotten games in the series. This was actually a release title for the PlayStation 2 and it was an absolute blast to play. This game had you put your team of two fighters up against another team and it was fun, but also required some skill too.

To say that Nintendo struck gold on the Nintendo 64 when they started the Super Smash Bros series is the understatement of the century. Look, the most recent game on the Switch is the go to obviously. However, we do feel that Super Smash Bros Brawl deserves some special attention. This game at the time had a massive roster and the same kind of Smash Bros fighting action we all know and love. However, what sets this game apart from all the rest was that this game features the best single-player mode of any Smash Bros game. It has a full story for you to play through and it is a ton of fun to experience. Such a shame Nintendo never did a story like this in the Smash Bros game that followed it!

So, there you have it, a few chosen titles that we feel are some of the best fighting games around! We have so many fighting games here at Gamefabrique that no matter what you are into be it WWE, Def Jam, King of Fighters, and more, you are going to find it right here and have an awesome time too!
