WWE 2K23 features over-the-top wrestling action and high flying acrobatics. Players can deliver forearms, clotheslines, DDTs, andPedigrees with the push of a button. They can also perform signature moves, finishers, and special weapons like steel chairs after filling a signature move gauge. Chokeholds,rest holds, and grinds allow wrestlers to wear down their opponents.

The game also introduces new mechanics like strike chains which create momentum to strengthen strikes, and retaliation systems which penalize players for dodging too many attacks.
