What better place to start than with the original game for the PlayStation 2, God of War! Play as Kratos as he seeks revenge on Ares, who he felt betrayed him and took everything that he had. A truly remarkable story of revenge set against the backdrop of Greek mythology! The hack and slash gameplay here is just so addictive, and you truly do feel like a powerful vengeance machine as you steamroll your way to Ares to put him down once and for all!

God of War II

Kratos's battle against the gods is not done, and in God of War 2, things are kicked up several notches. With even better visuals and even more over-the-top action. Kratos has a date with the Sisters of Fate as he tries to destroy all those who have wronged him. The fact that this is a game running on the PlayStation 2 is just staggering! This game still looks fantastic to this day, and for many, this is the best when it comes to the God of War games!

God of War: Ascension

Talk about a hidden gem! God of War: Ascension is a very interesting game, as so far, it is the only game in the God of War series not to see a re-release of some kind. This game is a prequel and takes place after Kratos has renounced Ares. The Furies have imprisoned and tortured Kratos. Well, he manages to get out and takes the first step on his path of revenge against Ares! This is one of the best PS3 exclusive games!

God Of War 3 Remastered

God Of War 3 Remastered is the PlayStation 4 version of the PS3 original. Offering better performance and greatly enhanced visuals, this was at the time seen as the end of the story of Kratos! After waging war on all the Gods, Kratos finally sets his sights on Zeus himself, and we get one of the most insane boss battles the series has to offer. This is Kratos at his most vengeful best!

God of War Saga

When it comes to the God of War games series, it is hard to top the power that God of War Saga offers! This is an insane collection that features remastered in full HD versions of God of War, God of War 2, God of War, Chains of Olympus, and God of War Ghost of Sparta! All four of these games are great, and while the originals are all fantastic. This is the best way to experience these games due to the better performance and visuals.

God of War: Ragnarok

Kratos and his son Atreus are dealing with the horrors that come from Ragnarök in God of War: Ragnarok! Deal with Thor and other iconic Norse gods that are standing in their way. While this is an incredible action game with amazing visuals, it is the story here that will truly grip you. See both Kratos and Atreus grow in this amazing game that is truly one of the greatest video games of all time.

God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta

Here we have the second handheld entry in the God of War games series, God Of War: Ghost Of Sparta. This is perhaps the biggest hidden gem of the entire saga. What makes this so cool is that we get to see the brother of Kratos! If there is one game in the series you want to experience as blind as possible, it is this. This is truly a showcase for just how powerful the Sony PlayStation Portable was.

God Of War: Chains Of Olympus

To say that God of War: Chains of Olympus blew people's minds with how amazing it was on the PSP is an understatement. This is a prequel to the events of the original God of War, and it is a fantastic, bite-sized hack-and-slash action game that tells a very cool story that ends up being a really cool part of Kratos’s history that not enough people have experienced, but now you can thanks to this cool collection.

God of War 4

God of War 4 is the game that changed things for Kratos. Now he is a father, and after the death of his wife, he and his son, Atreus, go on a journey that puts them head-to-head with Odin himself. This is incredible stuff, and in addition to the new setting and characters, the gameplay has also seen a change thanks to the new Leviathan Axe that Kratos gets to wield.
