Hillside

If you come to Hillside expecting a story that is all about sex you are going to be rather disappointed. However, if you want a lewd visual novel that has a great story that is a slow burn and tries to keep you guessing in a “whodunit” kind of style, you are probably going to have a fun time with this game here. I am kind of surprised that the game does not have the best reputation online as it has a very mixed kind of reaction from people who have played it.

I Will Always Love You!

That reference is going to make sense when I tell you that the MC you play as in Hillside is a bodyguard. The setting of the game is Hillside which is basically like Hollywood, the entertainment capital of the world. You have been hired by an older, world famous model to come and live with her in order to protect her 18 year old daughter, Emma. Someone has been sending Emma threatening and disturbing letters and you need to protect her and try to find out who is sending them.

That Slow Burn

I have read more than a few other reviews of Hillside where people say that the story is boring and very obvious who is behind this. I think that is way too harsh as at a certain point, yes, it is very obvious who is sending these letters, but for the first few chapters, I feel that the game does a good job of keeping things guarded enough to keep you interested in who is behind this.

Today On The Hallmark Channel

Some people I feel come to this game and think that they are going to be playing through a sexy rated R thriller. However, I would say that Hillside is more like something you would see on the Hallmark or Lifetime channel. It is a very slow burn and there is hardly any sex in the game. There are some risqué style shots and so on, but if you want a game that is going to take you from one sex scene to the next, you are going to be disappointed here. While I do enjoy the game and think it looks great, I must admit a few more sex scenes would be very welcome.

Keeping It Professional

There are some choices that you will have to make as you progress through Hillside, but none of them felt all that substantial to me if I am being honest. I do think that it can alter the kind of dialogue you get from certain people as the relationship can change. However, I never once felt like there were going to be any major consequences for me doing something wrong.

Pros:

• I liked the MC that we get to play as
• I thought the mystery aspect of the story was done pretty well
• This game has some great looking character renders
• It is very easy to get through

Cons:

• There is not much in the way of XXX content in this game
• If you do not like stories that move at a slow pace, you will not like this
