After getting pulled in by the amazing art, Magical Gene turned out to be a lewd game that has some promise but needs a great deal of work. This is a lewd sandbox style of game and I will say that the developer does have a lot of good ideas with this game. However, I do feel that the execution of the game leaves a lot to be desired. At the end of the day, this is one of those games where your love of the art and the lewd scenes are going to be what drives you to keep on playing and get to the end of the game.

16 Years Later

The whole premise of Magical Gene is something that I am interested in. We play as a 16-year-old dude who was kidnapped as a baby and was raised in captivity. He has now managed to get out and has found his way to a town where he is discovering things for the first time. Oh, he also has a massive penis which along with his naivety makes him very attractive to the ladies of this town. I did like how there were little bits of supernatural elements to the story here and overall, I actually think the story is better than many people are giving it credit for.

Saturday Moring At 9 AM

The best thing that this game has going for it has to be the incredible artwork. It has a kind of Saturday morning cartoon vibe to it. The hand-drawn style of things here is something that I really do like and it gives Magical Gene a look that is quite unique. The game also has some excellent animation too. The sex scenes feature animation that is great and it certainly makes things way hotter. However, even dialogue and story scenes will have an animation here and there. It is all very well done and I have to say I am surprised more people are not giving the game credit for the way that it looks, it was the presentation that kept me playing that is for sure.

How Many Clicks To Get To The Center?

Now, while I thought that the story was intriguing and that the presentation of the game was absolutely fantastic, sadly, Magical Gene falls down when it comes to the gameplay. This is a lewd sandbox game and I come into these things always knowing that there will be some grinding involved and truth be told, I am ok with that. The problem that this game has is all of the clicking you have to do thanks to the unintuitive UI and the way the map is designed. You sometimes have to click about 10 times just to get from one place to the next as there is no direct route! The map makes very little sense and it can be frustrating when it takes so long to get somewhere. Plus there are many days where you do nothing at all and once again have to just keep on clicking.

I think that if the developer of Magical Gene refined the gameplay, made the map smaller, and took away some of the grind, this would easily be a 9/10 game for you. As it is, the grind and the way getting from point a to point b feels so unnecessarily long makes this a game that can lose its appeal very quickly. The art and the animation are truly amazing and ultimately what kept me (and most other people I bet too) playing the game. With that being said, if this style of art in a lewd game does nothing for you, the gameplay will make you turn this off after five minutes.
