Meritocracy of the Oni & Blade

There was a fair bit of buzz around Meritocracy of the Oni & Blade as it is a lewd RPG brought to us by OneOne1. It is rather similar to some of their past work, but I am not going to class that as a bad thing. Overall, it is a very well made lewd RPG that has some fantastic CGs. I will say that if you end up with the censored version, you will have to track down a patch, but to be fair, that is not all that uncommon these days for a game like this.

Slaying The Red Demon

For me, the story is the strongest aspect of Meritocracy of the Oni & Blade. We play as a young woman called, Aika and her home was destroyed and her parents brutally killed by the Red Demon. Aika is no normal girl, she has a special power that is called Brave and this is noticed by a headmistress from a special school called Akatsuki and she takes her into this school so she can hone her skills. She meets other people like her and she starts her quest for revenge!

Corrupting The Corrupted

I would actually say that Meritocracy of the Oni & Blade is more of a corruption style game than anything else. It is like everything that happens to Aika no matter if it is losing a battle, talking with a classmate, or whatever, results in her becoming lewder! The fetishes in the game can get pretty extreme, but I do like the way it sort of starts of rather vanilla (well as vanilla as you can get in a game like this) before building up to the extreme stuff.

Breathtaking Art

As well as having a great story, Meritocracy of the Oni & Blade has some of the best art that you will see in a game like this. The CG and portrait images of the characters look like they are taken from a big budget anime movie or TV show! I was very impressed with the character designs and the game is so good looking that I think they really should consider making an art book.

Easy A

As Aika becomes lewder and loses any inhibitions that she has as you progress through the game. The actual gameplay is kind of similar in that it becomes very easy the more you play it. Combat is 1 vs 1 battles and even against bosses, you do not really have too much to worry about.

For me, I was in the mood for a rather basic and straightforward RPG at the time I played this, but I can see how for some people this would make things rather bland and boring if I am being honest.

Pros:

• The character models are great
• The CG work in general in this game is fantastic
• I liked how it was pretty straightforward
• The story the game tells is actually the best part about it

Cons:

• The corruption aspect of the main character may turn some folks off
• The game is very basic and easy in terms of its gameplay
