Survive4/Apocalypse:Prelude

With such a strange title, Survive4/Apocalypse:Prelude really did capture my attention and as someone who loves lewd RPGs, I was pretty pumped to have some time over the weekend to give this game a try. I will be the first to admit, that this is a series I am not super familiar with, but a buddy of mine is and he said that I could just jump straight into this without worrying about the other games. I had fun with this and there is a real randomness about the gameplay that for me, added some excitement to the game, but at the same time, I can see why this may frustrate some people.

A Real Hell To Live In

Survive4/Apocalypse:Prelude has a pretty cool story, well at the very least the setting is cool. The game takes place in a world that has been decimated by a war and also, mankind’s numbers are dwindling due to a strange virus that is fast spreading across the globe. To try and survive, people live in small groups and that is where we meet our core cast of characters for this adventure. Akito is the MC of the game and he pretty much has a broken heart and finds himself falling in love with the gorgeous and stacked Rio who is more of a sister to him than a lover, but in this post apocalyptic world, strange things can and do happen!

What Cuck?

One of the things that my friend told me before I played Survive4/Apocalypse:Prelude was that the game was very heavily cuck themed. The whole cuck thing is something I can take or leave, but in the case of this game, I really did not get it if I am being honest with you. Perhaps I was taking the story wrong, but I never really saw Akito as a cuck, to me he more felt like a dude who was lost in love after having his heart broken, I never saw him as a complete cuck. Again, this could have just been the way I interpreted the story, but I do think if him being a cuck was the main theme of the story, I would have picked up on it more than I did.

Rolling A Six

The best thing about Survive4/Apocalypse:Prelude and the thing I enjoyed the most was the gameplay. You have exploration and you have combat and both things are handled by a roll of the dice! You can improve your equipment which will in turn give you extra dice rolls. However, the game is very random in the way that you progress as you can do everything right, but then have the roll of the dice not be in your favor. Look, I get that this is not something everyone is going to like, but for me, this added an extra element of excitement to the gameplay and I truly did feel that it was random and I was never being cheated by the game. It makes for a rather unusual kind of lewd RPG and that was what ultimately kept me wanting to play.

Chicks Yes, Dude No!

The presentation of Survive4/Apocalypse:Prelude is very well done, it has an anime, almost movie kind of quality to the way that the game presents its story. The world is dark and bleak which I liked and the characters are super detailed. The thing is, there are some absolutely stunning character designs in this game, some truly epic looking ladies are in this game with great bodies and stunning looks in general. However, the MC looks like a little kid, and some of the other characters, I am not saying that they look like a “kid” but they are so small that their proportions are kind of weird. There were some really hot XXX scenes in the game, but there were also some scenes that were not for me at all.

Pros:

• I liked the story
• The stuff with the MC being heartbroken was interesting
• There are some very nice looking ladies in this game
• The random nature of the dice rolls was something I liked

Cons:

• Some of the characters are so short, it is kind of weird and hard to get into them
• The dice rolling gameplay is not going to be for everyone
