The Future Radio and the Artificial Pigeons

In this futuristic novel, players of The Future Radio and the Artificial Pigeons will experience a mysterious love story between Yamanashi Sora and Hazuki Kaguya. In the story, it is 2061, and strange mechanical pigeons have chased humans from the sky.

With no radios, and no real choice but to submit to the artificial pigeons, people are stuck until Sora builds a new type of radio. He tries to broadcast a radio show, only to find out from the same radio he will die in 3 weeks.

Later, he finds out from a strange girl that seems to have a connection with the pigeons that he will not die because she won’t let him. The tale unravels from there in a 20 hour long visual novel.

If you’ve played the developers last visual novel, Newton and the Apple Tree, you can expect this latest offering to be just as beautiful and well thought out.

Branching storyline

The Future Radio and the Artificial Pigeons isn’t linear. The novel features branching storylines that allow you to make choices that change the game. Your choices are reflected in the story after you have made them.

The story leads you through a broad swath of emotions as you play, from comedy to suspense, and even a little bit of romance.

The branches have quite a bit of variety in them in terms of storyline. One of the storylines is practically a joke, another focuses on sex jokes, while the rest of them have very serious plots. Depending on what you feel like reading, you can alter the novel to fit what you want to read at the time.

Adjustable maturity levels

The game is available from multiple locations, but if you buy it off of Steam you can get a free 18+ patch to add. This includes sexier scenes, but if you prefer your game to not be quite so steamy, you can choose not to download the patch.

Without the patch there are still sexy moments, but cleaned up so that there isn’t quite so much in view. Even without the patch this game probably wouldn’t be appropriate or even interesting to the younger set, but would be fine for teenagers.

Quality Graphics

Like the developer’s previous game, The Future Radio and the Artificial Pigeons is beautifully drawn. The characters, color palette, and even animation all work together to be a stunning novel. If you want to be dazzle by both story and the scenes when reading a visual novel, The Future Radio and the Artificial Pigeons is a great one to read.
