Wet Sand

Even though Wet Sand is an early access title as I write this, I am confident in saying that when I do a top ten list of my lewd games for this year. I am pretty certain that this game is going to feature on there. This thing is just an incredible example of how a lewd game can be just as good, well made, and polished as a “regular” adventure game. I have put a ton of time into this already and I am impatiently waiting for its first big update.

A Pirates Life For Me

I do not want to go too much into the story of Wet Sand as it is probably the best thing about it. The main character that we play as is a man called, Fabian Brook who is a pretty normal average guy, but he finds himself the captain of a pirate ship, a pirate ship where the last captain was murdered and now you are fearful for your own life! It is a very interesting premise and I like how the character we are playing as is not your typical “hero” like you usually see in an adventure game.

More Than Straightforward

The whole plot of Wet Sand is just fantastic! You have a crew (you are a pirate captain after all) and you need to keep them happy and motivated. However, there is also supernatural elements going on with the story as well. What feels like an average and normal pirate kind of story is far more than that. It is kind of like a lewd version of Pirates of the Caribbean and that is something I think is pretty damn awesome. The characters in the game, even in this early state are well designed and feel like they have actual personality that makes you want to get to know them more.

Coming On 11 Disks!

Did you know that Monkey Island 2 on the Amiga back in the day came on 11 disks? And we have the nerve to complain about a few loading screens these days! Anyway, the point I am trying to make here is that We Sand has a very “adventure” game kind of vibe about it and I think that Monkey Island is a great comparison. You basically move around, click on things, and interact with them to move things forward. They say that this is a lewd visual novel and a lot of what you are doing is talking and making decisions, but I would certainly say that overall, this feels far more like an adventure game than just a lewd visual novel.

Some Fine Booty I See There!

Visually, Wet Sand is absolutely stunning and it is crazy that the game is not complete yet. We have a kind of hand drawn art style with the presentation here and it is incredible. The game has a very AAA look about it and this helped me get sucked into this world even more. The supernatural stuff looks great, the characters have a ton of personality and the little bit of lewd content that is in this current build of the game is fantastic too! The soundtrack is great as is the sound design, but the only miss here is the music that plays during the lewd scenes, it just does not fit with the style of the rest of the game at all.

Final Score: 9/10 (based on the early access build of the game)

Pros:

• I am loving the pirate story they are telling here
• The game is very character driven with the way it presents the story
• The gameplay has a very classic adventure game feel to it
• I love the art style the game has

Cons:

• I love this game so much that I wish the finished version was here already!
• The music that plays during the lewd scenes feels very out of place
