Seeing as the first game came out of nowhere and took me by surprise, Dishonored 2 was a game I was very excited for. I can tell you right off the bat that I was not disappointed and that this is one of the best games of this current generation that I have had the pleasure to play through. I will go one father than that and say that I also feel this is one of the best sequels ever made!
You Cannot Take My Kingdom
I loved and I mean loved the story of Dishonored 2. The game does take for granted that you have played through the first game so please keep that in mind. I do not think new players will be completely lost, but I do feel that you will get so much more from the story if you are familiar with Corvo and Emily.
Speaking of Corvo and Emily, Dishonored 2 is set a while after the first game and Emily is all grown up. She has her kingdom stripped away from her by a big bad and Corvo is frozen! So, the best way to describe the story of Dishonored 2 is that it is a revenge story. Actually, there is one thing I forgot to mention and that is, you can flip the story! You can have it so that Emily is the one frozen and Corvo is who you play as. I really do not want to say too much about the story as it is one of the best things about the game. I would advise that you go in as blind as possible if you want to really experience this game at its best.
A Visual & Audio Treat
One of the things that really helps the story of Dishonored 2 is the way the game looks and sounds. The whole game has a fantastic amount of polish and attention to detail. No matter if you are in an underground area or a sunny port town you will be amazed by the way the game looks. The sound is also fantastic. Not just the voice acting which is excellent. But the use of sound is also very well done and helps make this feel like an actual living world.
Play How You Want
Like the first game, Dishonored 2 gives you a lot of freedom in the way that you play. No matter who you play as you will be given a lot of freedom to play the game the way you want to play. Both Emily and Corvo have their teleportation ability called, Blink that allows them to stealthily move around areas. However, you can also get plenty of other powers from The Outsider. One thing that is cool is that you can choose to play the game without powers if you want! Each area you go to and each objective you need to complete can be tackled in the way that you see fit. You can play the game sneakily. Moving around, taking people out silently and getting out of there before people are aware of something is even happening. You can also just go all guns blazing, using your powers and blasting people away with guns. A huge part of the fun of Dishonored 2 is that it allows you to go about the game in a way that suits you.
This may sound a bit much, but for me Dishonored 2 is a masterpiece of a video game. It is a true joy to play and it is a gorgeous looking game. I do recommend that you play the first game (play the definitive edition) first to get the most out of it. However, that is not a bad thing as that is also a great game.
Pros:

- It is a joy to play from start to end
Cons:
- It is better if you have played the first game
- It does kind of assume that you HAVE played the first game
