I am very excited about Dōkyūsei: Bangin' Summer as this is a game that I have heard a lot about. This is a dating sim style game that was released in Japan last year. It was very popular and it was actually a remake of a game from the early 90s, one of the real pioneers of the dating sim genre in Japan. I know a few people who imported the Japanese version of the game, but now it is actually being released in the west in English and it looks like a whole lot of fun.

Making The Most Of The Summer

Our protagonist is coming very close to finishing with his studies, but the banging in Dōkyūsei: Bangin' Summer is no joke! He has worked hard to make a lot of money during the first part of summer vacation and now he plans to have some fun and meet a few ladies that he can try his luck with. Well, he soon learns that there is more to life than countless flings and he realizes that it is better to find that special one to have a real connection with. There is a lot of humor and wit to the story here and it is a real coming of age story that I think is going to be a great deal of fun to play through.

Modern Conveniences

The dating sim genre has come a long way since Dōkyūsei: Bangin' Summer was originally released the better part of 30 years ago. While they have not completely changed the gameplay on offer here, they have improved the UI and just made things a not more user friendly and easier to get to grips with. You have to make choices, be in the right place at the right time and manage things wisely. It has those visual novel and point and click style adventure tropes that we take for granted in these styles of games these days.

That HD Paint Job

Of course, the big upgrade going on with Dōkyūsei: Bangin' Summer is those incredible HD visuals. A lot of work has gone into making this game look truly fantastic. There are plenty of ladies in the game too and they all look great with a lot of personality. I also have to give a ton of credit to the amazing backgrounds as well of which there is a very impressive variety. I loved the fairground type area best. It was the visuals that made me very tempted to play the Japanese version of this game last year.

If you like dating sims then I think that Dōkyūsei: Bangin' Summer is one that has to be on your radar. This is just so much fun and while the characters in the game are very attractive. I like how this is more of a coming of age and falling in love style of story than just a nonstop sex fest… well it can be, but like most games of this style, you do have a lot of freedom with the way you go about things which means that there is plenty of reason to come back and play the game again.

Pros:
